Dr Crokes saddened by sudden death of great club man
The Dr Crokes club was rocked on Saturday last with the sudden and unexpected premature death of outstanding club man Malachy Walsh. He died suddenly on the 3rd tee box at Kenmare Golf club where he was playing in the Dr Crokes Golf Society President’s Prize (Martin Byrne’s).
He devoted so much of his energies for the benefit of his beloved club. He played with Dr Crokes for many years and when his playing days were over, he became a senior selector helping them to win titles at Kerry and Munster levels in a glorious era for the club as they dominated the football scene. Malachy was a trojan worker for many years in the highly successful club lotto and a host of other club activities. He was the ultimate volunteer in any activity where the club needed people to take responsibility for so many projects. The large number of club members who gave him a well-deserved guard of honour was testament to the respect in which he was held. His other great in-
