Gear up in aid of Ballyfinnane NS

Locals in Ballyfinnane are ready to gear up for their annual cycle taking place next week.

Due to the resounding success of the previous year’s cycle the ‘Tour de Ballyfinnane’ will take place on Saturday, April 22, at 10am.

This is the eight year of the cycle, which is organised by the Parents Association of Ballyfinnane National School, along with the support of the school staff, the wider local community and generously sponsored by local businesses in the area. All funds raised are in aid of Ballyfinane NS, a two-teacher school which is situated in the parish of Kiltallagh, at the crossroads near the well-known Shanty Bar. The cycle was a homegrown initiative started by the Parent’s Association of the school which has grown incrementally each year and has now become a regular outing on the calendar of cycle events that take place in Kerry.

Proceeds from the cycle greatly benefit the children of the school where past funds raised have supported projects such as a new playground, school IT devices, sport, swimming, yoga and music, to name a few.

This year’s cycle was launched by Brendan Griffin local TD and Junior Minister for Sport with Kingdom Warrior and Irish boxer Kevin Cronin at Divane’s Volkwagen showroom Castleisland who are a proud sponsor.
