A-listers Michael Fassbender and Jessie Buckley, the town's love affair with the silver screen dates back to 1936. Ireland’s rst talking lm, ‘The Dawn’, about the War of Independence, was lmed, scripted, and acted out in Killarney.

Killarney has more hotel bedrooms than any other town in Ireland except Dublin. The town has 38 hotels and close to 10,000 rooms. Killarney welcomes over one million visitors every year.

Killarney Racecourse is o cially the most scenic horseracing track in Ireland. Some say it’s the most scenic in the world.

Muckross Estate was bought in 1910 by wealthy American Willian Bowers Bourn as a wedding present for his daughter, Maud. Maud died in 1929, and in 1932 her husband and parents donated the estate to the Irish Government in her honour.
