SHOOTING FROM THE HIPPO Hello again and it doesn’t take long for old habits to rear their heads early in the new season. Killie demolish the scum again, the giro worshippers are gubbed twice in Europe and Ibrox will be home to another new team shortly……déjà vu all over again. On the subject of the scum demolition its heartwarming to see agent Roberts continuing his mission down in the third world and we can confirm that they are now only third team in killieshire as Hurlford have jumped above them……Hurlford are probably richer than us but that’s another issue!! We’ve had a few games now to assess how things are looking on the field and I think the general opinion is we have improved from last season. That is no great achievement however we appear to be playing a better brand of football and I reckon Gary Locke has had a positive effect on the squad in general. Having said that the Record have just ran a story about “players in revolt” as bonuses haven’t been paid but the story is from Keith Jackson who is a confirmed MJ hater. It’s hard to know what to make of the story as I reckon the fans were the only ones due any financial reward for having to watch that football last season. The worrying thing thus far seems to be the complete lack of influence from Bowie and the other new directors. I’ve no doubt they are in it for the right reasons however the poison remains and until Bowie does something about it his investment will be damaged as will the club. The Community Engagement Board is a sham but one which our local politicians have signed up for although they appear to be struggling for anyone else as most folk can see its doomed before it starts. Having asked for nominations and not getting much of a response it appears MJ is now trying to hand pick. Both chairman and vice chairman of KFCSA were asked to join as individuals and not as KFCSA reps. Of course they declined but it shows you that democracy is a foreign language to the parasite. Elsewhere a few of us took a wee trip up to Darvel recently to see a young Killie team play the juniors to celebrate their 125th anniversary. It was a cracking day in the sunshine and it was good to see some familiar faces in attendance. It had a beer tent on the terracing…….manna from heaven for this salad dodger. The game was lively and closer than the scoreline suggests with Killie running out 5-0 winners including two fine goals from man of the match Greg Kiltie. It’s good to lend some support to local teams and I plan a few junior hospitality days out when Killie have a free Saturday. One sad bit of news this week was the death of Killie fan Sandy Fagan who many ex Diageo employees will know from Hill Street. Sandy was a regular on the Travel Club bus for many many years and is another Killie fan taken far too young……R.I.P. Sandy
