Excellence in ART since 1963.

DEAR FRIENDS, A New Year is upon us and 2013 is an exceptionally important one for Trailside, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary with a gala event which will take place at our Jackson, Wyoming gallery in August. We are planning a major exhibition of new works by our stellar roster of artists to commemorate the occasion. For those who attended our 40th anniversary event back in 2003, it goes without saying that our 50th anniversary promises to be an even more extraordinary evening with many of our artists and collectors on hand to help us celebrate. More information will be forthcoming in our upcoming newsletters and via our website. The Scottsdale art season is well under way, and this February, the gallery is hosting a special showcase of new works by plein air painter Matt Smith. Collectors are certainly familiar with Matt’s classical landscape paintings, MATT SMITH, Early Autumn - Beals Island, Maine, 14 x 18, Oil, $4,600

which often depict his beloved Arizona sonoran desert. This show, however, follows Matt’s painting trip to New England last fall. As you will see on the following pages, Matt has captured many quintessential New England scenes, from lobster shacks in Maine and the rugged coast of Acadia National Park to the historic covered bridges of New Hampshire.

JIM NORTON, War Party on the Laramie, 20 x 30, Oil, $22,500

Joining our Trailside artist roster in this New Year is New Mexico landscape painter Arturo Chavez. Dedicated to preserving the landscape by capturing it on canvas, Arturo uses a combination of on location studies coupled with many compositional drawings and intermediate painting studies to create his magnificent landscape interpretations. We will be showing Arturo’s work in both our Scottsdale and Jackson galleries. As you browse through our newsletter you will also see an impressive group of new paintings by some of our top western painters that include Bill Anton, Jim Norton, Tom Darro and Dan Mieduch. Additionally, we are featuring a new collection of work from landscape and architectural painter Bruce Cheever, who has endeavored to give us a little bit of international flavor in his sampling of work which includes scenes from Utah and Arizona as well as Italy and Switzerland. We look forward to visiting with you soon! Maryvonne Leshe Managing Partner

ARTURO CHAVEZ, Evening Glow, 36 x 72, Oil, $46,000
