Dear Friends, With the holiday season upon us, we are set to host our last shows of the year. Traditionally, we host an annual miniature show, but this year we decided to change it up with a little bit of a twist on the traditional show format. Aptly titled “The Twelve Artists of Christmas,� the event will focus on a collection of small works by twelve western masters in our Scottsdale, Arizona gallery and twelve wildlife masters at our Jackson, Wyoming gallery. On the following pages, you will see a selection of the artwork by the participating artists. Most artists have produced a minimum of three works for the show, so I would encourage you to visit our website to see all the available artwork. All the paintings will be sold by fixed price draw in each gallery on December 7th.

Also on tap this holiday season is a one-man show for artist Robert Moore at our Scottsdale location. Tall and soft-spoken, Ken Carlson, Safe Haven, oil on board, 10 x 13 inches, $7,900 Robert possesses a sincerity and courtesy reflective of his Idaho farm upbringing. Whether painting a pure landscape, still-life, architectural subject or an occasional figurative, his distinctive combination of brush and palette knife, coupled with his use of heavy surface texture brings forth a passion and energy to every canvas. He frequently uses vivid colors and high-keyed values that reveal a spiritually inspired joy. Please join us on Saturday, December 9 for our Artist Reception and Open House to view the show and to meet Robert in person. Robert will also be conducting an artist demonstration during our afternoon Holiday festivities.

We are also pleased to offer a selection of new works

by Canadian aviation artist Ross Buckland. For Ross, a childhood infatuation with flying crossed over into a successful career in fine art where he has been able to explore the unique relationship of aviation, figures, wildlife and the landscape, all rendered with a vintage style approach.

“In this painting my dozing lynx is displaying a common behavior in the daytime as these stealthy cats avoid humans and hunt at night, so they are rarely seen. From my painting it appears as though he just had to take a nap as he crossed the trail of one of his favorite prey, the rabbit.

Although he appears much like your house cat the lynx are covered with beautiful thick fur that keeps them warm during frigid winters. Their large paws are also furry and hit the ground with a spreading toe motion that makes them function as natural snowshoes. 'Crossing Paths' is a painting illustrating the beauty of an agile predator.” – Bruce Lawes

Whether the subjects are lions or lambs, horses or hares, or the flamboyant and feisty barnyard rooster, St. Clair’s colorful animal paintings are characterized by the contrast of warm and cool tones, loose brushstrokes and bold color, light and shade, and thin and thick textures. Themes of parenthood, strength, and the soft, silent language of affection can all be seen in her work.
