EXCELLENCE IN ART SINCE 1963

Dear Friends, With our winter/spring art season in full swing here in Scottsdale, we are pleased to feature three distinct shows with artists Dan McCaw, Jeremy Winborg and Mike Desatnick. Their newest studio works will be available to view in the gallery throughout the month of March. “Stretching the Boundaries” brings a dynamic new collection of works by California based painter Dan McCaw, who the gallery has represented for more than 35 years. We have been long overdue for a new show from Dan, so the event should be welcome news to his nationwide following of collectors. For Dan, painting has always been a journey of sorts, a trip through the heart and mind to reach the ultimate destination: the core of his artistic journey. Long considered one of America’s most highly Jeremy Winborg, Resting Maiden, oil on board, 30 x 40 inches, $7,800 respected contemporary impressionists, the last decade or so has found him drawn deeper into the world of abstraction, challenging himself to take expressionistic liberties while on the path to find his personal voice. A skilled and discerning interpreter of color harmonies, shapes, light and mood, he expresses feeling and emotions with the fewest elements - that less is more. Our showcase for Utah based artist Jeremy Winborg features a new body of work inspired by Native American subjects. Jeremy is best known for his figurative works that blend realism with abstract backgrounds. Widely recognized for his bold brushwork, palette knife work and interesting, colorful backgrounds, he enjoys the juxtaposition of the realistic portraiture and abstract, loose backgrounds. We are also pleased to welcome back Colorado painter Mike Desatnick whose work we first represented during the 1980’s and 1990’s. Mike completed his art education at the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and later served on the faculty at the academy where he was an awardMike Desatnick, Sparkling Earrings, winning instructor for six years. Mike’s oil, 16 x 12 inches, $3,700 paintings of Native Americans show great sensitivity and empathy for his subjects. The bold colors, beautiful play of light and authentic native costumes are enhanced by the realistic expressions of the people he paints. I am also taking this opportunity to send out a reminder that we are currently seeking consignments for our 12th annual Jackson Hole Art Auction. This year’s sale will consist of two sessions taking place on Friday, September 14th and Saturday, September 15th. I look forward to seeing you in the gallery! DAN MCCAW | STRETCHING THE BOUNDARIES FEBRUARY 26 - MARCH 24, 2018 | SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA

“Creativity needs persistence and the ability to learn from trial and error to identify things relevant to your intent and to eliminate the unnecessary. I draw from memory, imagination, experience and experimentation. Layers of struggle - one layer upon the other. I search within each subject to find my own truth; that moment that you connect with something that moves you. The painting is only the visual part; it is the emotional connection that gives the painting its value.” – Dan McCaw
