EXCELLENCE IN ART SINCE 1963
Dear Friends, The summer is off to a busy start in Jackson with no shortage of activities and events to entertain both locals and visitors alike! Here at the gallery we have been busy hanging our featured artist showcases for the month of July as well as a bounty of new works recently delivered by many of our gallery artists. Among our July shows is "Capturing The Light” a collection of new works by California based artist Kathleen Dunphy. As the show title implies, the theme of the paintings centers on light with subjects ranging from landscapes, water scenes, farm animals, as well as still lifes; all subjects which she finds close to her home in the Sierra Nevada foothills. In these newest studio works from Kathleen, light is everywhere; from the last glistening rays of light bouncing off the bend of a river to the fractured light reflected in a clear vase full of happy sunflowers.
Jenness Cortez, Ranch Hands, acrylic on mahogany panel, 16 x 20 inches, $27,500
Montana wildlife painter Kyle Sims also brings us his newest studio paintings for his month long show. Inspired by the many wild denizens that inhabit the inner mountain west and painting with a sense of immediacy, Sims brings the viewer into the wild with his finely depicted scenery and the natural realism with which he depicts North America’s most magnificent animals. An added bonus for this particular show are a handful of beautiful western landscape works, showing us yet another side of this multi faceted painter. Browsing through our latest newsletter, you will also see a varied collection of new works ranging from sensitive figurative works, Kathleen Dunphy, Follow the Leader, oil on canvas, 40 x 60 inches, $17,000
Art Deco inspired cowboys and cowgirls, aviation art as well as classic wildlife. All in all, there’s a little bit of everything to suit a wide spectrum of collector interests! Also in these pages we bring you another taste of what to expect in our 11th annual Jackson Hole Art Auction being held during two sessions on September 15 and 16. Be sure to visit our website as well to view additional works by these featured artists as well as many others! Kyle Sims, Heading into September, oil on canvas, 24 x 36 inches, $10,000

Don’t we all like a good adventure? I think on some level, we all do. I guess that’s been one of the big draws for me in portraying the 1930’s. In spite of the hardships back then, it was also a fantastic time of adventure, style and beauty. Art Deco with its bold designs and vibrant color had come into its own—which is where these new pieces draw their influence. Adventurous cowboys and cowgirls, expressed in a classic 1930’s look. 6

My objective when painting figurative works is to draw the audience in. Whether through the figure's eyes, an object they're holding, or just the way the light hits, I want the viewer to feel a connection to the subject. The abstract backgrounds I create are an exciting juxtaposition to the serene stillness of the realism of the portraits. Resting Maiden, oil on board, 30 x 40 inches, $7,800
