EXCELLENCE IN ART SINCE 1963

This September we are excited to present another full schedule of events all coinciding with the 31st annual Jackson Fall Arts Festival, which this year runs September 8th - 18th. As we do every year, we dedicate the month to highlighting new works that celebrate nature, sporting art and all things wild. Montana artist Brent Cotton brings us Capturing the Light, a showcase of new works that include large studio paintings as well as a selection of smaller plein air works. Brent paints in the Tonalist/Luminist style made popular in the late 1800’s, seeking to create works that are mood evoking and have a timeless quality. Our Bonnie Marris showcase, aptly titled Immersed in the Wild, brings us a new selection of works by the Michigan based wildlife and equine painter. Holding a Masters Degree in Zoology and animal behavior, Bonnie’s realistic paintings never fail to capture the spirit of the subjects she portrays, whether it is wolves, bears, foxes or horses. Sharing My Vision features the newest collection of work from 32 year-old Adam Smith and it serves to remind us once again how this Montana artist is painting at a level well beyond his years. Although he has had no formal training, he has benefited from the mentorship of one of the country’s foremost wildlife artists - his father Daniel Smith. Recently transplanted to Colorado to be closer to the animal subjects that intrigue Dustin Van Wechel, Buffalo Crossing, oil on linen, him, Dustin Van Wechel’s showcase, Narratives in Nature, is comprised of works 60 x 48 inches, $23,000 that are heavily narrative, with each painting telling a unique story of the wildlife and landscapes of the Rocky Mountain West. September also marks the 10th Anniversary of the Jackson Hole Art Auction, and this year’s sale, comprised of two sessions, is particularly strong with an impressive collection of works by Taos Founders, western masterworks and a broad selection of wildlife art, with no less than nine coveted paintings by renowned German painter Friedrich Wilhelm Kuhnert (1865-1926). I do hope you can join us for what promises to be an extraordinary week of art related events! Please visit our website for more information and to view additional works by all our gallery artists.
