Kimberly Lacson Transcendence 1056 Queen Street West, Toronto, ON Artist Loft (Urban Setting)
DESIGN CONCEPT The purpose of an artist live work loft is to provide a affordable living situation for local artists as well as include a space within their space that they can use as a studio. These are a popular instalment in areas of the city that is very artsy and trendy. The importance of having affordable artist live work apartments is because if the city wishes to keep an area with that type of demographic they need to keep the artists there. And if it isn’t affordable to live the artists will move and therefore take the local art scene to another area as well. Transcendence is designed not only to be a place for artists to live and work, but its also an escape from the city. This escape can be found in many forms from the roof top gardens to the restaurant, and also the public studio space where artists can collaborate on projects together and members of the public can take classes to learn more about the arts.

This 806 square feet loft is designed for artists around the city. A sleek and modern style unit with a contemporary kitchen, dark brown hardwood floors, white countertops and an island facing the electric fireplace with a decoration of faux firewood logs, featuring a dropped ceiling around it. Living room, dining room and an art studio are all in one place with a 10 ft. ceiling, making it a very open space and a great room to multi-task. The Art studio space is placed at the corner of Queen St. W and Fennings for a pleasant view. The balconies have green walls, which are environmental friendly and can be used by the residents for future plantation.

Kimberly Lacson The Anchor House Mixed Use Building Suburban Setting Residential DESIGN CONCEPT The aesthetics of the Sail building came from the appearance of Cruise Ships. The structure, form, shape and materials used was selectively picked in order to make an expression of a ferry. The Curtain walls are along the side and corners where the sun hits the building most of the time to save cost and energy consumption of electricity, making it environmentally friendly. A small rounded covered entrance is provided for shelter in case of a weather change. The restaurant has a mezzanine which gives a great view of the outdoors. It also features an Art gallery right beside the restaurant for a better and easier access between the two.
The Fifth and Sixth floors are dedicated to residential divisions, there are 8 units in total. They vary between Studio and 1 Bedroom. The Master Bedroom was intentionally placed where the curved curtain wall is, which is for a greater view and feeling of a bigger space. The units are all positioned where the sun usually hits the building for brighter rooms and saving expenses.

Kimberly Lacson Chocosol Traders 1131 St Clair Ave W, Toronto, ON M6E 1B1 Urban Setting
The existing building only consist of 2 storeys, a basement and a separated garage. To make the best use of the space, we decided to add a few more storeys up and added a 2nd level basement for the cold room. Since this is in Toronto, the space is very narrow and small. The 4th and 5th floor was used for the green house, in able to get as much sunlight as possible; meaning it is less use of electricity and energy consumption. The idea for the aesthetics was a combination of a green building and chocolate, since the client wanted a funky and “Willy Wonka” style, so we decided to have a hip and modern looking style.

DESIGN CONCEPT Chocosol Traders is a small chocolatier company located in Toronto. It is a business that believes in quality over quantity. They also love the idean of a eco-friendly building that can sustain itself over the long haul. The client is a very passionate and hardworking man that wants his best for his employees and the whole society, he wants to make an impact on people’s lives on how to be more environmentally aware of the surroundings. This building was made to be the best fit for the purpose of saving energy, it has a 2 storey greenhouse for soil making, bikes that can grind the coffee beans and solar panels on south side, these are just a few examples that as incorporated in the building

Kimberly Lacson Paper Airplanes Urban Setting
DESIGN CONCEPT
The Idea of the Paper Planes building came from a sketch of a paper airplane, the roof and shape of the building was formed to make it look aesthetically eye-catching to the crowd. The main entrance of the building is shaped into a box, to make the odd shapes pop out. This building is used for Art Gallery and Library, the high ceilings and big curtain walls was used because it can make the room feel bigger and it costs lest for the energy consumption of electricity. The roof form also has another purpose which is for rain water collection, that can save water usage.

Kimberly Lacson Hunter Residence 44 Sapphire Crescent, Brampton, ON House Renovation
1st Floor Existing
DESIGN CONCEPT
The Hunter Residence is a 3534 sq.ft, 2-storey house with an unfinished basement, which has the typical feel of a Mississauga residential house. The family consists of 2 adults and 2 older children, (University or older) 1 of which is currently not living at home. The house in it's current condition has an adequate amount of space and appropriate amount of rooms to suit the family of 4. The backyard has a large amount of space with a pool and garden around the perimeter, if the family was looking to expand their space the backyard is the best option for the expansion. 1st Floor Renovated
The client has 2 main areas of interest for the renovation, the first being an aesthetical improvement on the ensuite bathroom in the master bedroom and a deck as a patio space to transition the house from an indoor to an outdoor space. Modern style, ceramic flooring, soft colours and a claw tub are the requirements for the ensuite. There is a preference towards a concrete deck for the aesthetic, but a preference to go with a wooden deck for the economical value. The ensuite bathroom has a very large amount of space to work with but since the renovation is mainly for aesthetic purposes, most of the fixtures will not be able to remain in place.
Ensuite
The mother of the family works mostly evenings and the father of the household sells art. The family also likes to travel a lot and are active when they are home. More storage space is a secondary desire of the family as some of the excess painting inventory is spread throughout the house. Another secondary request is the landscaping of the house, mainly in the front yard, with one point of emphasis where a tall shrub obstructs the view from one of the bedrooms. 2 nd Floor Existing Patio
