MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Cape Coral Parks & Recreation Department is to provide a wide range of recreational programs for individuals of various ages, skill levels, interests, social needs and economic capabilities that collectively enhance the overall quality of life within the City of Cape Coral.

Whether you are looking to earn required volunteer hours or simply get more involved in your community, there are a number of opportunities throughout the year for friendly and enthusiastic individuals and groups of all ages to volunteer with the Parks & Recreation Department. Or, if you have a talent and want to share it, the department is always looking for volunteer specialty instructors. BOATING & BOAT TRAILER PARKING

The City of Cape Coral boasts over 400 miles of canals, many of which have direct access to the Caloosahatchee River and Gulf of Mexico, offering a wide range of marine activities to boating enthusiasts of all ages. The Boat Trailer Parking Program is in effect at the City’s five developed ramps. Boaters must pay a $10 daily fee through the Passport Parking app, or make a payment by phone at (239) 424-9459, to park their boat trailers while they are out on the water. To get info on the new parking app and/or to add funds to your account, visit www.m.ppprk.com. Cape Coral residents may purchase an annual boat trailer parking decal for only $50. There is a provision for commercial Cape Coral businesses to purchase annual decals for $100 each. For more details, call (239) 573-3128.

PARK SHELTER & FACILITY RENTALS If you’re looking for a place to host your next meeting, event or social gathering, look no further! All of Cape Coral’s recreation centers have rooms or areas available for private rentals and the following venues also offer birthday party packages: • Eagle Skate Park • Sun Splash Family Waterpark (Mar-Sept) • Wm. Austen Youth Center • Yacht Club Community Pool Please contact the location of choice for rental rates, capacities and availability. All appropriate paperwork must be completed and deposits paid in full to secure reservations. In addition to private rentals and party packages, Cape Coral has several parks with covered picnic shelters, many with BBQ grills and electricity, that can be reserved in advance for $40-$75 per day plus tax. The Park is located off Cape Coral Parkway between Coronado Parkway and Santa Barbara Blvd. Our large, shaded, fenced in area provides playground equipment geared towards all ages. Visit the sunbathing beach which offers a 16,000 sq ft patch of sand that adds 200 feet of beautiful beachfront for your enjoyment. The multipurpose 3,900 square foot recreation facility offers programs for all ages. A specially designed 2,000 square foot addition accommodates our popular preschool and VPK programs.

That’s why we make sure our Preschool programs offer quality classes in a caring & safe learning environment with emphasis on hands-on experience, discovery learning & self development. VOLUNTARY PRE-KINDERGARTEN (VPK) (4-5 yrs) The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) program is a FREE program for Florida’s families. VPK gives parents an opportunity to help their children reach their full potential. The VPK program is for all children who are four years old on or before September 1 and who reside in Florida (VPK voucher required). Child needs to bring lunch, snack and water. VPK class will meet 3 days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00am-1:30pm August 12, 2019 – June 2020.

At 365 acres, Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve is currently the largest preserved green space in Cape Coral. Located just north of Veteran’s Parkway, “Eco Park” features a 6600’ nature trail and boardwalk, two observation piers, a visitor center, a Veteran’s Memorial area, and a seasonal kayak rental operation. There is an 800’ portage along the kayak trail - it is not for beginners. Children under 6 are not permitted in the kayaks. Visitors of any age can walk through the preserve on the boardwalk. Possible wildlife sightings include eagles, ibis, herons, other wading and migratory birds, raccoons, snakes, etc. Be sure to stop at the visitor’s center for information on local wildlife, trail guides, and the “last chance to use the facilities.” Please no pets, skateboards, bikes, or roller blades on the boardwalk.

Eco Preserve is open every day of the year. The Kayak Shack Outpost is open weekends only, from November 2, 2019 through May 24, 2020.

Join the Southwest Florida Fine Craft Guild and the Art Center as we present the Fine Art Expo. With two days of 3-hour workshops, this is a great way to learn a new fine art or fine craft form. Registration is required for participation.

Open Call Exhibits

Open Call Exhibits are open to the public to display their original artwork in a gallery setting with no membership required. Every show is juried and judged. You must be at least 18 years old to enter your work and all media forms are accepted. Works must be complete, ready to display, and dropped off at the studio with a non-refundable entry fee of $15 for up to three pieces of art during the receiving times.

The gallery and receptions are FREE to view and OPEN to the public.
