POBLENOU, BARCELONA. WINTER 2017 | 5 weeks
STUDY MODEL foam + cardboard
Barcelona welcomes thousands of tourists every year. Among them are many business travelers. It is one of the most popular cities for international conferences and conventions, with close to 200 meetings a year and 130 000 participants. To accommodate these professionals, this project offers different facilities such as a reception area, an auditorium, a multifunctional gathering space, meeting rooms and co-working spaces all of which are available for rent. In addition are rental studio apartments managed by the social housing residents themselves for greater social diversity within the project. Rental profits are dedicated to building maintenance costs. All three lots are connected by a public promenade that breaks through the regular housing typology and makes way for semiprivate courtyards and sunken courtyard where it is comfortable to see and be seen. An urban cemetery is composed of traditional burial niches that follow the sides of the ascension promenade. Under the supervision of Paul Kariouk, architect and professor and Zachary Colbert, architect and visiting professor.

WINTER 2017 | 3 weeks While visiting the welcome center, new immigrants are invited to participate, wether full time, part-time or once in a while, in the preparation of meals of the restaurant. Those speciality meals are then served to any type of passer-by or established foodie of Ottawa city. The circulation volume acts as a beacon and catalyzes the encounters and collisions between established citizens and newly arrived residents. Under the supervision of Paul Kariouk, architect and professor and Zachary Colbert, architect and visiting professor.

WINTER 2015 | 13 weeks This project transports the visitor in a natural environment where sound is the central theme of the design. Facing the fast pace of urban lifestyles, this parc is a physical and psychological escape from the city. Plants were selected for their sound characteristics: the birds and insects they attract along with the sound of their leaves in the wind. A musical pathway of water drops emerges from under the seats while sounds are intensified by a known device called the acoustic parabola. Under the supervision of Bernard St-Denis, Associate Professor.

SAINT-VINCENT-DE-PAUL, LAVAL. Land to be developped
URBAN CONTEXT
Winter 2016 | 13 weeks

Residential Green space
The land to be developped of SaintVincent-de-Paul is located between highways 440 and 25 as well as Montée Masson. Althougth the site is not a remarkable ecosystem, the presence of a varied fauna and the extent of the green space offer us a unique territory in the neighborhood. The water also constitutes a rare and appreciated landscape entity. The stake here is to reconcile the residential, industrial and institutional entities while putting emphasis on the natural landscape.

PARK AND RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT
OVERALL PLAN
The site is divided into two parts: the park and the residential development. Five elements were used as guidelines to the suggested plan. The diagonal of the railroad, the agricultural pattern recently disappeared, the natural lines of the streams, the spontaneous paths as well as the existing topography. We think that the planning of a park, rather than the deployment of new industrial parks near a new domiciliary development, would encourage more new residents to settle down in Saint-Vincent-de-Paul.

In the forest zone (north), a walking path is framed by an old agricultural stone wall.
A railroad crossing makes a pedestrian link between the vairous residential sectors.
2
6
A wooden bridge allows visitors to cross the stream.
The pedestrians are priority in the crossings between paths and roads. A hogback incites automobilists to slow down while maintaining the pedestrian path on a continuous level.
3
A space naturally deprived of big schrubby masses will be maintained to serve as a multifunctional play area.
4
The buffer zone consists of conifers. It reduces railroad noises for the benefit of the residents of the units nearby.
7
The primary and secondary paths differ by their width, their materiality and the type of views they offer.
8
An entry for kayak is located at the outfall of the stream. It simply consists of a small dock to accost kayaks. A path links the dock and the park.
45
THE CROSSING PATH
FOCUSED PLAN
autocad + adobe photoshop
The link between the north and south parts of the park, separated by the railroad, asks for a particular attention. Having said that, the planning of a crossing path allows the park to form a single entity rather than two. In the Parc du castor project, the stream—the very essence of the park—is integrated crossways so that a landscape ambience permeates the space. Users will enjoy the continuous presence of flowing water as they stroll. This type of crossing also serves to create a landscaped public space in which people, wildlife and vegetation are all at home. In addition to serving as a retaining structure, the rocks can be used as seats, stepping stones or dams—the beavers would be proud!

Fall 2014 | 15 weeks Inaugurated in 1843, the canal of SainteAnne-de-Bellevue became an important part of the Montreal-Ottawa-Kingston waterway. This public space is in reference to the lock by simulating its experience which is defined by two guiding principles: the variation of levels insured by topography as well as the changing field of vision insured by long walls of corten steel. Under the supervision of Robert Desjardins, teacher and landscape architect, and Nicole Valois, Professor.

the gost valley Winter 2016 | 1 week
INSPIRATION
A few kilometers away from Chicoutimi, North of the river Saguenay, is the National park of MontsValins. This park guards a magnificent valley, commonly called the valley of the ghosts. Humid and shielded from the wind, the valley shelters thousands of ghosts. These ghosts are actually conifers splendidly covered-up by a thick layer of snow. This ephemeral installation imitates the impression of being surrounded by ghosts. On both sides of a frosted window are placed pretences of human silhouettes. By moving through the installation, the perception of the users is blurred: literally and figuratively. Visitors distinguish with great difficulty the true human silhouettes from the enactments. The same way a hiker is surrounded with trees-ghosts, visitors of this installation are submerged by shadows and ambiguous shapes. Under the supervision of Robert Desjardins and JeanFranรงois Bertrand, teachers and landscape architects.

checkers and gardens CONCEPT adobe illustrator + photoshop
COMPLEXE DESJARDINS, MONTREAL. Winter 2015 | 2 weeks The project takes place during the 50th anniversary of the AAPQ, l’Association des Architectes Paysagistes du Québec. This checkerboard, made of synthetic grass, is a surface from which different volumes emerge. Six main gardens are followed by several fragments or small gardens that emerge as well. People passing by are invited to enjoy these entities: touch them, pass through, take a break, etc. Under the supervision of Bernard St-Denis, Associate Professor, and Sébastien Breton, event coordinator and landscape architect.
