I wanted my design to be fliexible and welcoming, hence chose an overall lighter tone for the different materials in the space. Flexibility came in the form of the walls, where parts of it pivot outwards to give off an inviting feel. Many of the spaces have a pegboard and dowel system as it is flexible - shelving can be customised to the user’s needs.

Artspace brings together charity organisations and local artists to cultivate collaboration. Charity organisations have the opportunity to use arts as a medium for future projects to spread awareness for their causes. These works are then displayed in the retail space, where proceeds go to the charity organisations. The cafe serves as a secondary function to bring the public and generate buzz.

The cafe is beside the retail space and is for the public visitors to relax and unwind. It also helps to bring the local artists and public to connect and create conversations.

9

The second floor art studio is a space for pottery + painting. The flexible pegboard and dowel system is utilised two ways. First, it allows painters to hang different canvas sizes up on the walls. Second, the potters can customise how they wish to hang their tools. Seperating both spaces is a communal sink and storage spaces.

This is the office space for the charity organisations or social non-profits. It is seperated from the pantry with shelving meant for the workers to store any resource materials.

11

The double volume pantry space serves as the main connecting point between the charity organisations and the local artists up in the second floor. There are several meeting open booths intended to cultivate collaboration.

Below are my early sketches of walkway and shelter ideas that suggest movement. I also wanted the visitors to feel as though they were really under tall amazonian trees in a forest as they walk in. Just as the visitors reach the entrance plaza, the interlinking should open up and allow more light through - as through approaching the end of the forest and the start of a new experience.

The concept for the design is “trees of the amazon. The interlinking design of the shelter provides shade similar to that of tree canopies. The walkway and exhibition design is suggests wave-like movement as one walks down, imitating the way roots grow in the soil. The design has lighter tones throughout to give off a friendly and inviting welcome.

The different exhibitions are housed by different shelters, which all originate from the interconnecting strips of the walkway.

As the visitors approach the entrance plaza, the spaces divide into the respective different exhibitons.

I wanted the space to be clearly divided into two spaces - a wood and concrete area. This was because the interior should reflect the different type of clothings.

This is a project done to mainly learn Studio 3DMax. The brief was to create a 10x10 space of any use. This a design concept for a South-Korean brand well-known retailer brand called WORKSOUT. As the brand carries high-end streetwear, it had to be reflected in the concept, resulting in an overall premium look.

Wood Area: The walls and flooring are wood with a herringbone pattern. This area is intended to feel more luxurious as it is the space for displaying designer shoes, scarves and leather coats. Features leather upholstered seats and a magazine display.

27

Concrete Area - Meant for displaying shirts, pants and dresses. Features a mirror wall partiton for customers.

The whole concept i had for the interior architecture was “surround. I wanted my space to be able to connect the migrant workers together and form stronger bonds between them. This is reflected throughout the design with the geometric depressed seating. Being surrounded by their friends is exactly what these migrant workers need after work which creates a very warm feel, almost like home.

35

the

LIGHTHOUSE @ li t t l e i n d i a .

The brief was to design a place that migrant workers could relax at and enjoy. Like a lighthouse that guides ships to shore, this gathering area glows and attracts the migrant workers into the space. The facade is mainly covered in frosted glass, achieving that soft yet welcoming glow when viewed from outside.

When it is night time, the design gives off a soft glow to invite the migrant workers into the space. The interior spaces are mainly made out of wood for a warmer feel.

To continue with the light look, there are ‘floating’ shelves both next to the bed and under the staircase to maximise space usage. A storage cupboard is also proposed for the client to hide away bulky items like luggages. The second floor of the loft features a wardrobe and more shelves that are bolted onto the existing mesh railings.

This project was a design done for a bedroom with a built-in loft. The client wanted a lighter feel for the bedroom, as well as more shelving for books and potted plants. The proposed design was to change the built-in loft unit white, which was originally paired. This is then paired with light wood laminates and a ‘floating’ platform bed.
