munity for decades,” stated Mark Peabody, CORONA Chamber Chairman of the Board. “Owning a family business is very difficult, and this is now being run by the third generation.” Peabody knows first-hand on the generational business, as he and his brother have taken over their father’s business. By no coincidence, the naming of the company, and their physical plant’s location address (1776 All American Way) tie into the patriotic style that Richard and Dan Sizemore were famous for. All American is in the asphalt and aggregate material production and a construction company, providing grading, paving, concrete, grinding, utility adjustment and slurry services. They work on numerous projects from public to private sectors. For

Chamber Discounts with Office Depot

W

ith tight budgets and the need to procure office supplies, I insist on our staff purchasing from Office Depot. The CORONA Chamber has put together a special discount program that is good for all business and consumers—in fact, you do not have to be a member to take advantage of it. Rather than put many words together, see the slips of purchase to the right of this text. Items purchased are identical, the only difference, the far right one used the special Store Purchasing Program uniquely negotiated for the CORONA Chamber with Office Depot—anywhere! Crazy as it sounds, my purchase went from

$117.67 to $41.34 by using the card below (copy it, use it and save on your purchases!!) The savings was so dramatic, I repurchased the same items so I could have a receipt for the initial pricing—to show all of you! If you have questions, contact the CORONA Chamber and our team will share with you other benefits and values of being a member! Happy Shopping!!

It seems appropriate to support these 2 organizations in light of the more than heroic efforts made by the First Responders on that terrible Tuesday 15 years ago. The show’s theme, “Hope after Grief” will focus on the emotion of Grief in the first act and then transition to Hope in Act 2. Using powerful projections from the destruction created that day, the program will include music from a variety of performers and groups including YouTube sensation, Sarah Horn, Circle City Chorale Ensemble, our local High School choirs and popular Baritone, Ryan Reithmeier. For the transitions between musical numbers, there will be narrations provided by a variety of community leaders like Fire Chief, David Duffy, Councilmembers Dick Haley and Karen Spiegel and local actress, Vicky Irvine. Local author, Joane Audrey Shamma, Revealed

J

oane Audrey Shamma (J. Shamma McShain) is an 82 year young, multi-media visionary, who has often waited for technology to catch up with her dreams. Sculptor, poet, painter and landscape architect, Joane never even considered following the pack, nor fitting into a mold. Instead she plotted an adventurous course in life, leaving artistic landmarks strewn in her wake. “From the earliest time I can remember, I always had a pad and pencil in my hand.” Now she is seldom seen without her iPad somewhere nearby. When an idea seems complete, she declares it finished and moves on. Her first book, NINE MASKS is one of those ideas, many years in the making. When only 30 year’s old, recently divorced, a single mother of three children in an era when other women were merely talking about equality,

without any credentials beyond the practical application of great ideas, Joane started a freelance Landscape Design Professional Office in Anaheim, California. She became very successful at designing residential and commercial projects (featured in numerous periodicals including Sunset), and later went on to teach landscape design at UCI. Hers was an innately artistic approach that combined elements of feng shui, when few had ever heard of it. In 1967, she married her husband Tariq M. Shamma, a Professional Civil and Structural Engineer. Together they combined offices in Anaheim into Shamma Enterprises and became a 60 man multi-disciplined A&E firm. Joane’s Landscape Architectural Department grew into a 12-man unit of Landscape Architects and Designers.

In the second Joane brought from California a special grass in refrigerated containers to be hydro-seeded and planted successfully throughout the entire 28 acre site. All the while, Joane remained an avid reader, and writer. She averaged reading at least one book a week, collecting stacks of paper (her favorite initial medium). Poetry came naturally to her, perhaps because of an emotional and men-

tal depth of introspection born of inherited dyslexia and physical limitations resulting from spinal problems. A born artist and dreamer at her core, Joane eventually began to organize her own fantasy tales while sketching, painting and sculpting family members, and imaginary lifelike figurines using the Lost Egyptian Wash Method. Her second book, GARDENS OF TORISSINIA is the result of that unique process and talent, which reveal both real and relatable images that explore highly personal inner-emotions and speculations. Between the lines, she feels and lives her writings, as we hope you will.

“FROM THE EARLIEST TIME I CAN REMEMBER, I ALWAYS HAD A PAD AND PENCIL IN MY HAND.” Joane and her husband traveled all around the world and formed a new international Engineering/Architectural Professional Offices, TMS International, Inc., in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Bahrain and Baghdad, Iraq.
