T
he CORONA Chamber of Commerce 2016 Board of Directors recently conducted an annual planning session where they reviewed the Chamber’s successes and shortcomings in 2015. Through a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats), charted a course to guide the 105-year organization in making the upcoming year successful. The CORONA Chamber is setting its course for a tremendous growth year – not just in membership, though that is a top priority, but in other areas as well. At the forefront, the Chamber will be very active in cutting through governmental red tape and helping our elected officials to set business-friendly policies and legislation through their strong Legislative Action Committee (LAC). “About 10 years ago, the
2016 CORONA Chamber Initiatives CORONA Chamber started the Legislative Outreach and Advocacy program,” states Mark Peabody, Chairman of the Board, “it was built upon a need to help our businesses. A slogan that is often cited in politics is “If you are not at the table, you are probably on the menu”. We certainly don’t want our member businesses to be on the menu, so we are going to be active in advocating for and protecting the interests of Corona businesses locally as well as at the State and Federal levels of government. While we are proud of this area, we realize there are other items that need to be accomplished and fine-tuned as well.” THE CHAMBER WILL FOCUS ON FOUR MAIN INITIATIVES IN 2016: Membership / Retention: Our goal is to bring the organization to over 1,000 member firms.

he CORONA Chamber Foundation is bringing back a tradition to CORONA, THE American pastime – and has partnered with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to revive Corona Night with the Angels on Wednesday, April 27 when the Angels will play the 2015 World Champions Kansas City Royals. Tickets can be purchased on the CORONA Chamber web site. Angels Vice President of Communications Tim Mead said Corona Night “used to be a big community event. We’d like to get back to that.” “We know the excitement and community will again embrace this

I 2016 Legislative Action Plans T he CORONA Chamber’s Legislative Action Committee (LAC) has become a strong ally for the business community. It is often stated, if you are not at the table, you are probably on the menu! Focused on helping Corona as a community to attract, retain and work with employers, the CORONA Chamber has positioned itself to be on the forefront of assisting in job creation and creating career building jobs. Chairing the LAC for 2016 is Dean Seif, immediate past Chairman of the Board for the CORONA Chamber. The LAC meets the first Friday of each, at 8am in the conference room of the CORONA Chamber (904 E Sixth Street, Corona). With the
