C Gymboree 40th Anniversary By Don Williamson

n 1976, the United States celebrated its 200th anniversary. In the same year, Joan Barnes, a mother living not far from San Francisco was looking for a safe, fun place that would offer age appropriate activities for young children. Her search was unsuccessful so she did what entrepreneurs do and started her own business. Now 40 years later, Gymboree Play & Music is a global leader in parent and child programs for infants to 5 year-olds, with 700 locations in over 40 countries. ongressman Ken Calvert will be the Keynote speaker at the CORONA Chamber’s August 12 luncheon meeting being held at Eagle Glen Golf Club (1800 Eagle Glen Parkway, Corona, CA 92883). “We are fortunate to have Congressman Calvert represent the region, his determination and focus to our businesses and community is admired,” stated Mark Peabody, CORONA Chamber Chairman of the Board. “His continual focus on business as drivers of the economy and common sense stance on important issues has been vital in multiple funding programs and projects in our area.” Calvert will provide the business community his perspective on DC and where we are headed. “Our Chamber travels annu-

One major improvement that is needed is a new, enlarged and improved Cajalco Bridge over the 91 freeway. The City estimates it will take up to 20 years to get State and Federal funding sufficient to complete the project, with an estimated cost of $90 million.
