t is universally accepted that most people enter the business world to “make a profit.” Concerning Cardinale Automotive Group, their philosophy deviates from this common assumption. Brothers, Joe and Tom Cardinale, are sons of second-generation Italian immigrants that founded Cardinale Motors, Inc. in 1979. They first opened for business in Monterey County, CA. Since that time their knowledge, wisdom, and love have grown not only for their customers and business, but also for the communities where they serve.
Cardinale Motors opened a location in Corona in the late eighties. Their arrival has not only resulted in a successful business, but it also resulted in benefitting our community. The Cardinale brothers continue to operate as a family owned enterprise and have now expanded to 19 locations throughout California, Arizona, and Nevada. The now operate three (3) locations in Corona – Cardinale Way Hyundai (951) 271-3333; Cardinale Way Volkswagen (951) 808-3050 and Cardinale Way Mazda (951) 271-3344. n the past 11 months, the Corona Chamber has conducted business surveys at 300 different restaurants and retail stores throughout the city of Corona. The majority of surveys completed, took place during the 91 Construction Project, which may have had an unusual effect on local businesses. However, now that the project is complete, we are finding that the 91 Construction impact was short term. Business in Corona is not only returning to its usual performance, but even surpassing previous performance in some areas. Regarding the restaurant business, our results showed ... This Chamber represents the interest of business in the greater Corona service area by providing its members networking opportunities, promoting the community, and engaging federal, state, and local officials in order to improve the economic prosperity of the Inland Southern California region. “Our Industry Day helps show how we do business, what our needs are, and ultimately increases competition and reduces acquisition lead time,” said Dan Deconzo, Corona’s Deputy for Small Business. “It also informs the community about our technical capabilities and improves communication with local businesses that can help us execute our mission to support the warfighter and the Navy.” Harman said many businesses can have a misperception that Navy small business
officials complicate the bidding process but that’s really not the case. She emphasized Corona is involved “up front and early” in the procurement process and “that’s where the entire Department of the Navy needs to be. We want to influence change and create a culture of small business inclusiveness across the Department of the Navy.” Harman sees the small business outreach as more than just a way of meeting a goal. It’s a way to improve national security. NSWC Corona (celebrating its 75th year) helps warfighters train, fight and win by using measurement, analysis and independent assessment. As one of the largest employers in Riverside County headquartered in Norco, NSWC Corona employs more than 3,100 worldwide and contributes more than $300 million annually to the regional economy.

and of course, the homeless. Another issue is misunderstanding in regards to who is responsible, the City, Landlord, or State Agency? In fact, many stores’ issues are the responsibility of the landowner on which their building is located. Issues that should be mentioned to landowners are parking issues, infrastructure problems, security issues, and safety concerns. The city is responsible for maintaining its streets, sidewalks, and the outside parameters. This does not include rented-out business complexes or shopping malls. These findings and more, have greatly impacted business in Corona, and we are proud to say that the voices of business owners all across Corona are being heard, and action steps have begun, which will improve our local economy. EYEducation Update Vol. 1 By Alan A. Arabi, O.D., ProView Eye Care Optometry
W
hen was the last time you had a comprehensive eye examination? Has it been more than a year? If you are waiting until you notice a change in your vision, then you could be taking a substantial risk. Many eye problems can be silent – meaning they have no initial symptoms. At your yearly routine eye examination, your optometrist will evaluate for any vision disorders, eye imbalances and eye diseases that may cause future problems. It is especially important for people with diabetes to have their eyes checked yearly because of their potential risk for blindness. Bottom line, regardless of your vision, make sure to have an eye exam every year to evaluate your eye health. Early detection of eye diseases is vital and can have the greatest impact on preserving your overall vision. For more information or to schedule an eye appointment call ProView Eye Care Optometry at 951-7377820 or visit our website at www. proview2020.com.

Heather’s Healthy Corner Still working on the whole balance thing and making time for family, friends and taking care of myself so I can be on top of my game for everything in my life. In my quest, I have reached out to our community for help and heard back from several of our members with some Tips & Tricks. I am implementing a few into my daily routine and thought I would share a few with you with the hope that you might join me in this journey to wellness. This first tip comes from Christian, owner of CrossFit Proper, Corona. Christian says, “First up is nutrition, the fuel to your race car. If you start by putting bad gas in the race car it will affect the performance (productivity, alertness, happiness,
energy, etc.) View breakfast as fuel for your workday. Instead of starting with two cups of coffee in the morning, try a more balanced meal including protein, carbohydrates and fats. Since we are all busy people with no time, a quick one could be one or two hard boiled eggs, an apple, and a couple of almonds. Fuel that race car.” I’m on it Christian! First step and that’s a big one for me, but I’m determined to take this on. Daily, nutritional breakfast here I come! I will be sharing more tips in the next issue (Please email me your Tips & Tricks of how to incorporate wellness into everyday! heather@ mychamber.org) and follow my progress on Facebook @HeatherPRawlings.

Corona Chamber Advocacy cont’d with California’s often confusing and onerous HR laws, and representing the interests of their members on state issues as exemplary grassroots legislative advocates.” Meetings and full agendas compacted the 2 days for their annual Sacramento Summit. Each participating member paid their own travel, lodging, and meals.
“Having one-on-one time with elected officials, decision and policy makers is crucial for efforts to bring business friendly legislation,” said Dean Seif. “Each person or group we met with provided a deeper understanding of the issues the State of California has been facing and what actions they are taking to resolve those issues. The process of making decisions, laws, regulations, and how these factors can have effects on businesses and the day to day lives of everyone
was also discussed,” said Don Garling, Lifetime Vinyl Fence Fabricators and 2017 Chairman of the Board for the Corona Chamber. The Corona Chamber combines the CAL Chamber’s Legislative agenda, and incorporates a private Business Summit, strictly for our 24 member delegation. During our business summit, the Corona Chamber set up additional think tank sessions with representatives from RCTC, California Building Association, CAL Trans, and Senator Roth’s office. Additional discussions were with SEMPRA Energy, followed by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association. In essence, everyone should take advantage of the opportunity to attend the summit at least one time. All who attended have learned so much about how our state government works. It is also easy to see how important it is to get to know local legislators. Anyone interested in going on future Summits, to contact the Corona Chamber. If you would like to have similar opportunities, please consider attending our Washington DC Summit, which is scheduled for October 20 – 25, 2017.
