CORONA Police Officer vying for Man of the Year
C
orona Police Department Officer Adam Mendenhall has been nominated to be honored as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) “Man of the Year”. This tribute is presented annually. The winning Woman/Man of the Year is determined by the candidate raising the most money during a 10-week fundraising campaign that runs through June 3, 2016. The award is presenedt at the “Quest for Cures” Gala on June 4 at the Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach. Officer Mendenhall says Continued on page 6
Palmieri Pharmacy 4 decades of service
P
almieri Pharmacy has served generations of Coronians for 40 years. Recently an ownership change has occurred at what has become a local institution. The newly retired (second) owner, Kevin Pidgeon, who purchased the business from founder Jim Palmieri, recounts the business’ history. Kevin and his wife Donna are long time
residents of Corona and both graduates of Corona High School. “First of all I want to thank the Corona Chamber of Commerce and City of Corona for acknowledging and recognizing the Palmieri Pharmacy for 40 years of service. CORONA firm wins Statewide Award

he National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) selected Elaine Norland, the owner/operator of A Cone Zone, headquartered in CORONA, the group’s prestigious “2016 Woman Business Owner of the Year” award. The presentation was made last month at NAWBO’s annual
convention in Sacramento. NAWBO represents the interests of women entrepreneurs across the country and has over 60 chapters and 5,000 members. With ten chapters in California, Elaine is the first nominee from the Inland Empire Chapter to receive this award. Elaine, who grew up in
Corona and attended local schools, founded “A Cone Zone, Inc” in 2003. In the years since she has utilized the knowledge gained from her experience in construction and traffic control to steadily grow A Cone Zone. During tough economic times though, business leaders innovate and lay the groundwork for great businesses! Apple and Microsoft were created when inflation and interest rates were skyrock-
eting in the middle of stagflation in the 1970’s. Costco and its forerunner Price Club were started in the midst of double digit real unemployment.
