Kenya: Can we help save the dying Children? Wanjala Sikulu and other workers in the village discussing plans and going over the food rations.
Article by: Rosalind Cherry I met Wanjala Sikulu by chance. It happened because of a poem I wrote and posted on a poetry site; he responded to this poem and proceeded to explain the plight of the children in Kenya and his work with them. We became Facebook friends and I was compelled to share his story. I do understand that there are children here in America starving and dying everyday, yet something about this story moved my soul and hence this article. If you are moved as well by what you read on these pages, offer your help to these desperate children, for a child is a child, no matter the race or nationality. This is what Wanjala Sikulu had to say: Thank you for accepted to join me here and we are invited you to visit our orphanage home here in Kitale Kenya to support our kids who continue suffering, starvation and hungry. Most challenges is lack foodstuff. Welcome to share with us here in Kenya. I am a as well as a Home of Champions for God's Children Orphanage and Academy. We are requesting anything to help us to support this children. About the situation o the poor in Kenya I do the following; - Provide basic education/training for the poor orphan children. - Provide food, medical care donation and drink of the children and Poor community. - Provide clothing's and create awareness of affect of HIV/AIDS - Facilitates children staying in foster care homes awaiting building of their housing units - Provide children with guidance and counseling. - Providing biblical guidance and encouragement. - Provide food & clothing's to the poor widows. - To provide social education to how to use their local resources to reduce poverty through economically empowerment sustainable projects like IGAs. Though I do the above , it is very hard due to lack of regular funds and in most cases needs overwhelming. Therefore, If sponsors can be available for this purpose, then income generating activities can be carried out to help sustain the lives of the poor other than waiting for donations. Finally, I have planted churches in most of the remote parts of Kenya where now several people even our church members have died due to the HIV/AIDS/hunger that have hit them. Conditions are very harsh now. In every place where our churches are there are very many HIV/AIDS victims or patients who can't afford their basic needs as well as medical attention.Especially widows are in the problems in rural areas I am now take this opportunity to sincerely invite you to come and minister to us in most this place. After almost eight years of physical, verbal and mental abuse, my prayers were answered; I finally, got the courage to get out of my marriage. No matter what people said to me – trying to encourage me to leave him, I had to realize it and do it on my own. My name is Nichole "meaning victory" and on October 19th 2011, I had brain surgery. A mass that had been pressing against a main artery was successfully removed from the rear left side of my brain.

From the moment that the Emergency Room physician told me that an unknown matter was located at the back of my brain, IMMEDIATELY, I thought about my children & to myself, this man (FINALLY now my EX husband) probably caused this. Over & over again, As I laid on that stretcher - I remembered how this 6'3", 220 lbs. former licensed boxer repeatedly pounded on the back of my head as my slumped body remained sprawled on my bedroom floor. During one of my follow-up visits months later, I asked my surgeon if my situation could have been caused by physical abuse. Her reply was, “I don’t think so; if it didn't cause it, the abuse definitely aggravated it!" I love my surgeon & she's without a doubt proficient in her craft. However, I remember the miscarriage, the iron that he broke on my left shoulder, the many smacks, kicks & punches that came into contact with my body; I've the hole in my skull, a permanent dent in my left forearm & other bruises to remind me. The crazy thing is, this alleged man TOLD me that I had cancer. It was as if he were trying to convince himself that he hadn't contributed to my condition. What I should have done was gone directly to the hospital after the incident, but I didn't. I called out sick from work, dealt with the excruciating pain & nursed the swollen area myself. My point is ALWAYS have your incident(s) documented. With evidence, your case will be easier to prove. Me not visiting the hospital & reporting the abuse was the norm. Whenever I mentioned that I wanted to go to the hospital because I didn't feel well, he'd talk me out of it. He'd say, "It's all in you mind - ain’t nuttin' wrong wid you!" He spoke in his heavy South American accent. At some point in our marriage, he told me, "From the time that me give you me last name, you belonged to me!" Obviously, he got "CERTIFICATE" confused with "RECEIPT". I may be damaged goods, but I'M NO ONE'S PROPERTY! 9

Regine Garnier Reigning Queen of the Islands, the UK, and soon the US! I had the privilege and pleasure of speaking with Regine Garnier in the summer of 2013 on a internet radio show and to say that she is amazing is an understatement. Such an interesting and humble young woman with a talent so big, you would think it would have went to her head...but no, she was so thankful and grateful for the many opportunities she was being granted and her love for what she is doing was apparent. Her life and career is on an upwards spiral that I have had the chance to watch expand and grow.. and for that opportunity I am immensely grateful.
Regine Garnier hails from the beautiful Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe where she was born. At age 11, she moved to the French capital of Paris where she began her high school education. Over the years she became a top student and eventually graduated at the International School of Tourism. She later moved to London to pursue her career in music. Since childhood, RĂŠgine has been very attached to music seeing it as the one thing that allows her to be herself evoking emotions that only songs could bring. At a very early age she started to write her own songs and with the encouragement of her family she grew more infatuated with her love for music. 12

Her First single “Lombraj” reached number 3 on the Caribbean Radio Charts.
Her music has been received so well that Regine Garnier already got the fabulous chance to share the stage with international acts such as Earth, Wind and Fire, and perform at extremely important events such as the British Golden Jubilee, a celebration in honor of the Queen of England. Seafood Cioppino 1# Jumbo Shrimp Peeled and deveined 1# Clams Cleaned 1# Mussels Cleaned 1# Sea Scallops Abductor muscle removed 1# Firm Fish like Halibut or Swordfish ¼ c minced shallot ¼ c chopped garlic ½ c white dry wine 1 Bunch fresh basil~~ Chiffonade ( sliced very thin) 2 T Fresh parsley chopped fine 2 lemons Fresh squeezed juice Kosher salt Pepper 1 Qt Clam Juice Chives cut into ¼ inch for garnish Lemon slices for garnish Olive Oil
On large sized skillet or paella pan heat up olive oil. Add the shallots and garlic and sauté Add the clams and the mussels when open add the shrimp, scallops and carefully lay the fish.

Add the salt , pepper, clam, lemon juice and white wine cover ~~ when the shrimp are pink and fish is firm to the touch...Sprinkle the basil and parsley and cover. Carefully place the seafood on individual bowls or large bowl. Ladle the juice over and garnish with chives and lemon slices. Serve with a Crusty French bread to sop up the delicious sauce and or with your favorite pasta/ A well-chilled Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay will pair with this perfect. This will serve 6-8
6-8 Butternut squash raviolis (you can buy them in a specialty store like food emporium or pasta store) Water Boil water and add a pinch of salt when water is at full boil place ravioli in water. Cook according to package instructions. Toss into sauce and serve
Butternut Squash Ravioli with Hazelnut Crème, Sautéed Seasonal Vegetables and Artichoke Bruschetta In sauce pot heat oil and sauté the shallots til soft add ¼ c of the roasted hazelnuts sauté for 2 minutes and add the white wine and the Frangelico reduce and add the cream and season bring to a boil and then lower the heat to simmer until thick. Toss cooked pasta into sauce and garnish with remaining hazelnuts and parsley. And top with rainbow Micro-greens.
Artichoke and Roasted Garlic Bruschetta 2 Slices of bread~ use cookie cutter to cut into rounds 3T. Xtra virgin Olive oil 1 garlic clove roasted 2 Artichoke halves~ chopped 2 leaves of Fresh Basil~~ Chiffonade (sliced into very thin strips) ½ oz. Gruyere cheese shredded Kosher salt Cracked pepper Slightly brush bread rounds and bake in oven til crispy~ Take chopped artichoke and basil and cheese and seasoning and remaining oil mix well and top the rounds and toast or broil Serve with pasta dish
Hazelnut Crème’ 1 c. Heavy Cream ½ c. Hazelnuts roasted and chopped 1 Shallot ~ chopped 1 oz. White wine 2 oz. Frangelico ( Hazelnut liqueur) Kosher salt Cracked pepper 2T. Fresh parsley Chopped Xtra Virgin Olive Oil
Sauteed Vegetables 1 oz Pencil Asparagus 1oz. Julienned zucchini 1 oz. Julienned yellow squash 3 large Swiss Chard leaves 1 shallot chopped ½ t. Fresh thyme chopped 1 Garlic clove minced Xtra virgin olive oil Kosher salt Cracked pepper In sauté pan heat the oil add shallot and garlic sauté and add vegetables and seasonings toss in herbs.
