Heloise Hint: Having your first garage sale?

Before you set it up, visit other garage sales in your area to get a good idea of what’s selling and how to price your items. If you have items you think are valuable, you should have them appraised. You might not want to offer them in your garage sale.

Heloise Hint: Want to make the tires on your vehicles last longer? Car experts say to keep them properly inflated. So check the tires frequently. Also be sure to rotate them so they wear evenly. Check the tire tread as well.

Heloise Hint: Your dog and water. During summer, pay attention to your dog at the swimming pool or beach. Not all dogs are great swimmers. And if your dog has been in a pool, rinse it off afterward to remove chlorine or other chemicals. You don’t want your pooch licking them off.

Place them in the kitchen, laundry room and garage. Check the effectiveness dates.

Heloise Hint: If your vehicle runs over a deep pothole and you think it’s damaged because it not running correctly. Go to a mechanic to get the suspension and steering systems checked, along with the tires.

Heloise Hint: Planning to buy a car or SUV? Go online to find dealers in your area and to check out what models they have in their inventory. You can then go to the dealer and test-drive those vehicles.

Heloise Hint: Always keep your pets safe in your car. When you are driving, have your pet restrained with a harness or in a crate. Never allow it to roam freely, because that could cause an accident.

Heloise Hint: Summer fire safety.

After you have finished mowing the lawn, do not store the mower in an unventilated room or in one that contains a hot-water heater.

Intense summer heat could build up, combined with gas fumes, and cause a fire. Let the mower cool down completely before you return it to the garage.
