Luke 10:38-42 (Simplified for Kids)

Jesus visited two sisters, Mary and Martha. Mary sat and listened to Jesus, but Martha was very busy cleaning and cooking. Martha got upset because Mary wasn’t helping. Jesus said, ‘Martha, you are worried about many things, but Mary has chosen what is most important.’

Choose What’s Important

Sometimes, we get really busy with school, chores, or fun activities. But spending time with Jesus is the most important thing! Just like Mary chose to sit with Jesus, we can choose to pray, read the Bible, or go to church to spend time with Him.

Ask your family: What are some ways we can spend time with Jesus this week?

Draw

a picture of you sitting with Jesus, just like Mary did.

Challenge:

Tonight, before bed, take 5 minutes as a family to sit quietly and talk to Jesus. Each person can say one thing they’re thankful for.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t be afraid, because I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, because I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you.

Do Not Be Afraid

Sometimes we feel scared or worried, but God promises to be with us and help us. He is bigger and stronger than anything we face, and we can trust Him to take care of us.

Challenge:

Each time you feel afraid today, say, “God is with me, and I don’t have to be afraid!” Remind your family of this, too.

Ask your family: When do you feel afraid, and how can we trust God in those moments? Draw a picture of God standing next to you when you’re scared.

1 Samuel 16:7 (Simplified for Kids) People look at the outside of a person, but God looks at the heart.

God Knows Your Heart

When Samuel had to choose a king, God told him not to pick the tallest or strongest person, but someone whose heart loved God. God doesn’t care about how we look on the outside— He cares about what’s inside, like our kindness, love, and honesty.

Ask your family: What does it mean to have a heart that loves God? Write down or draw something you can do to show God your heart loves Him.

Challenge: During prayer time tonight, thank God for seeing your heart and ask Him to help you make good choices that show love.

Proverbs 3:5

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t depend on your own understanding.

Trusting God

Sometimes things don’t make sense, like when you don’t understand why something happens. But God always knows what’s best for us. When we trust Him, it’s like holding His hand as we cross a busy street—He will guide us safely.

Challenge:

Think of something that worries you. Pray as a family, asking God to help you trust Him with that worry.

Ask your family: When is it hard to trust God? Draw a picture of you holding God’s hand as you walk together.

John 13:34

Love one another as I have loved you.

Love One Another

Jesus showed us how to love by being kind, forgiving, and helping others. Loving others isn’t always easy, but it’s what God wants us to do. When we love, we show that we’re following Jesus.

Challenge: Pick one family member to surprise with a loving act, like making their bed, drawing them a picture, or giving them a hug.

Ask your family: How can we show love to each other at home? Write a list of kind words you can say to family or friends.

Jeremiah 29:11

I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord.

God’s Plan for You

God has a special plan for each of us! He knows what’s best and wants us to have hope and trust Him as His plan unfolds, just like a surprise gift you’re excited to open.

Ask your family: What do you think God’s plan might be for you?

Draw a picture of what you think God’s plan might look like.

Challenge:

Pray as a family, asking God to help each person trust His plan for their life.

Joshua 1:9

Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid because God is with you wherever you go.

Be Brave with God

Even when we’re scared, God is with us. Like a superhero who never leaves your side, God gives us the courage to face anything.

Challenge:

Face one small fear today—maybe trying a new food, talking to someone new, or saying sorry— and remind yourself that God is with you.

Ask your family: When was a time you were scared? How did God help you?

Draw yourself as a brave superhero with God by your side.

Matthew 5:16

Let your light shine before others, so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

Challenge:

Find a way to “shine” today—help someone, smile at a friend, or share something you have.

Ask your family: What are some ways we can shine our light for others? Draw a picture of a big shining light.

Psalm 46:1

Think of someone who might need encouragement. Send them a message or pray for them as a family.

Ask your family: When do you feel like you need God’s strength? Write or draw something that makes you feel strong.

Colossians 3:13

Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

Forgive Like Jesus

Forgiving someone can be hard, especially if they hurt you. But Jesus forgives us when we mess up, and He wants us to forgive others too.

Challenge:

If someone has upset you, take a moment to forgive them in your heart and pray for them.

Ask your family: Why is forgiveness important? Write down a time when you forgave someone or draw a picture of a happy heart.

1 John 5:14

We can be confident that He hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases Him.

Our Prayers

Ask your family: What do you like to pray about? Write or draw a prayer to God.

Challenge:

As a family, pick a time today to pray together about something special.

Be Kind to Others

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another.

Kindness is like a gift that costs nothing but means so much. When we are kind, we make others feel happy and loved.

Challenge: Do one kind thing today without being asked, like helping a sibling or saying something nice to a friend.

Ask your family: What’s the kindest thing someone has done for you? Write or draw ways to show kindness to others.

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

God Made You Special

Ask your family: What is one thing you love about how God made you? Draw a picture of yourself and write “God’s Masterpiece” on it.

Be Thankful

1 Thessalonians 5:18 Give thanks in all circumstances.

Being thankful means looking for the good things, even when things are tough. When we thank God, it shows we trust Him.

Challenge: Make a list of things you’re thankful for and share it with your family during dinner or prayer time.

Ask your family: What are three things you’re thankful for today? Draw or write about one thing you’re especially thankful for.

Matthew 28:20

I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

God is Always with You

No matter where you are—at school, at home, or anywhere else—God is with you. He never leaves you!

Draw a picture of you and God together.

Mark 16:15

Share God’s Love

We can tell others about Jesus by sharing His love with them. You don’t need to use big words—your actions can show God’s love, too!

Challenge:

Find a way to share God’s love today, like sharing your toys, helping someone, or saying a kind word.

Ask your family: Who do we know that needs to feel God’s love? Write or draw one way to share God’s love with someone.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Us Strength

God is like a coach who gives us strength to keep going, even when we feel tired or weak. When we trust Him, He helps us stay strong!

Ask your family: When have you felt God giving you strength? Draw or write about a time when you felt strong because of God’s help.

Challenge:

Do something kind for a neighbor or friend, like making them a card or helping with a chore.

Ask your family: How can we show love to someone in our neighborhood or community? Draw a picture of you helping or showing love to a neighbor.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Be a Peacemaker

A peacemaker is someone who helps people get along. Instead of fighting or arguing, you can help bring peace, just like Jesus would.

Challenge:

If there’s an argument today, try to be the one who helps bring peace by speaking kindly or helping to solve the problem.

Ask your family: How can we bring peace to our home or school? Write or draw about what peace looks like to you.
