Today, we’re celebrating a man who was born and raised in Baltimore, studied in our great city, and currently serves citizens through his spiritual leadership at ARK Church. He has also spread his knowledge and gospel far and wide around the globe, traveling to Scotland and Africa, France and Korea. In his native city, Pastor Carter has blessed ARK Church with a massive land acquisition for expansion and development; created a stronger commitment to evangelism in an effort to reach people who have not surrendered to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior; and established a 501c3 organization to assist the church in gaining government and private support for programs that reach the surrounding community and to meet the physical, social, economic and environmental needs of those who live in the community. On behalf of the City Council, I thank Pastor Carter for his quarter century of outstanding service and dedication. During his 25 years in the ministry, Pastor Carter has served as an integral community leader, helping uplift countless souls along the way. Your ability to take the Word of God and transcend all denominational lines is a gift that could only come from God. Pastoring a church is not an easy job. You have exemplified the capacity to administratively multi-task without losing the integrity of maintaining the essence of morality. I am especially impressed with the large volume of youth who are under your tutelage. After knowing and working with you over the years, I have discovered some distinguishing characteristics about you worth mentioning. When you are involved in a project, you use independent judgment in administering the proper programs necessary for the task. You not only preach the Word of God, but you disseminate information in an accurate, timely and professional manner. Finally, you have the gift of compelling people to take up their cross and follow Jesus. Special Guest Performers Ellana Barksdale, Actress…Singer….Entertainer… When Ellana was 8 yrs old, she received her first album, “The Wiz” as a gift. She would spend hours in the mirror with a brush as her microphone singing the songs and pretending to be Dorothy. A Star was born! Ellana is a native of Baltimore, Maryland where she attened and earned a degree in Radio, Television and Film from Morgan State University. While attending Morgan she performed with the renowned Morgan State University choir. After graduating from college, Ellana continued her love affair with performing in local films, theatre companies and competitions before moving to Los Angeles, California. Since moving to LA, Ellana has studied with the Meisner Center, M.K.Lewis and Sam Christensen to name a few, and she has performed at Theater Theatre, Stella Adler and The Egyptian Arena in Hollywood. Ellana is very excited about her career because she believes that with GOD all things are possible!
Angella Christie, Saxophonist .…… Musician Angella Christie was born in Los Angeles, California to missionary parents and travelled extensively throughout her childhood. She is a graduate of Houston Baptist University with dual degrees in Music and Social Work. Angella Christie has released seven albums and did a 40-city national tour in 2000. Her 1998 album Hymn & I reached the 24th spot on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums. Her 2008 album The Breath of Life reached the 9th spot on the Billboard Top Contemporary Jazz and 31st spot on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums. Angella currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Although she has had many struggles in becoming the woman that she is today, she delights in knowing that “There is now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit…..Romans 8:1 She believes, “Ya just gotta walk it out!!!!!!!!!!!”
