KES Shooting Club
his has been an exceptionally busy half of term marked particularly by a full sporting calendar, much work for charities and local partnerships, the excellent productions of The Secret Battle and Lady Windermere’s Fan and the wonderful music and singing at the Carol Service at Romsey Abbey. We were also delighted to host the BBC Children in Need production in November and for many of our pupils it was their first experience in front of the camera.
In the new year rifle shooting will continue at the Southampton Rifle Club venue. Boys and girls aged 12-18 welcome. Click here for more information. A January clay pigeon shoot is also planned.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Students in the Upper Sixth and Fifth Year will have plenty of work to do as they prepare for the mock examinations in January. They will need a rest but some revision will also be necessary.
In an effort to reduce plastic waste and to improve the quality of our packed lunches/ teas, without increasing the cost, from January 2019 we will no longer be providing drinks as part of the packed lunch.
We continue to appreciate your support with maintaining high standards of dress; we like students to remain smart at all times and one or two boys would merit a visit to the barber.
Please could you send your son/daughter to school every day with their own labelled water bottle.
Just one member of the teaching staff is leaving King Edward’s this term. Ms Anderson has been appointed Director of Music at Charters School and we wish her well. Mrs Hayden replaces her as Deputy Director of Music.
Auditions for the Lower School play, 'The Wind in the Willows' will be held on 8, 9 & 10 January 4pm till 5.20pm in the Dobson Theatre.
The new term begins on Tuesday 8 January and, until then, I wish you a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
All First, Second & Third Year pupils welcome.

Carol Service A big thank you to all parents who supported this year’s Carol Service. If you were unable to attend, click here for some images of the evening in the wonderful surroundings of Romsey Abbey.
PARKING NOTES Would parents please refrain from dropping their children off at the Wilton Road gates as this causes congestion to staff and visitors coming on site.
At the request of the School’s Charities Commission, the collection was in support of Step by Step which is a charity that focuses on supporting young people in need. We raised an amazing £1,310.
Also, in the interests and consideration for our neighbours, please try to keep your engine running to a minimum. 1

This year’s Sixth Form play is ‘Schoolboy Errors’, a farce written by our own Mr Collinson. The play is about a Headmaster whose entire staff go on strike on the day of the school inspection, a scenario that Mr Collinson is at pains to point out is entirely fictional. The play will take place at 7.30pm on 6 February in the Dobson Theatre, and is directed by our Head of School, Evie Wateridge. Tickets will be on sale soon. OBNO Our second hand uniform shop, OBNO (Outgrown But Not Outworn), will be open on Monday 7 January from 10.30am to 1pm in the North Playground or if inclement weather, in the Atrium.
