Carol Service at Romsey Abbey
he term has got off to a quick start, reinforced by some encouraging Oxbridge results with 7 students confirmed so far as holding offers. We have also had some excellent results in hockey and netball in spite of some challenging winter weather. Those in the Third Year have had the opportunity to learn more about the First World War with a whole day of lectures and activities while our Fourth Year and Sixth Form musicians were very fortunate to enjoy a day with the well-known conductor Tom Seligman focusing on their Concerto topic and a conducting workshop focused on Beethoven's Eroica Symphony.
For those parents and friends who were unable to join us for the Carol Service at Romsey Abbey, Mr Blow has produced a short video of highlights. Please click here to view. You might also be interested to know that the collection from the service amounted to over an incredible £1,700 which will be donated to the Evelyn Rose Foundation.

The PTA have again been very generous and we are very grateful for grants for new robotics equipment, break-out kits for our Gifted and Talented partnerships, new outside furniture for Wellington and support for the Arts Festival in June.

Work is proceeding well with the new Theatre, Art and Concourse project. The roof has been completed and by the end of the month we should have the walls added too. We have been blessed by good weather for construction and the project is on budget and on time with a view to re-occupying the art department at the start of the summer term. The theatre should be completed by July. This term we are also putting in place a new lecture and teaching space, particularly to support the Duke of Edinburgh Award, in the location currently occupied by the old bicycle sheds. AJ Thould
No action is required if arrangements are to continue as at present. Parents of Fifth and Upper Sixth pupils should refer to a recent email regarding reduction in lunch charges due to leave of absence for examinations.
