T
he term has got off to a brisk start, reinforced by some encouraging Oxbridge results with 12 students confirmed so far as holding offers. We have also had some excellent results in hockey and netball in spite of some rather wild winter weather. Those in the Third Year have had the opportunity to learn more about the First World War with a whole day of lectures and activities while our Fifth and Upper Sixth students have been fully engaged with mock examinations.
PUPILS LEAVING THE SCHOOL For all pupils, other than those in the Upper Sixth, who intend to leave KES at the end of this academic year, a reminder to parents that written notice must be received in all cases by the Registrar or the Head before the end of the spring term. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the Registrar on 02380 799216.
The PTA have again been very generous and we are very grateful for grants for new equipment for the Photography Club and some paddleboards for the Kayak Club.

Safety with new technology can be a worry for parents. Pupils receive sessions on Safe Social Networking, On-line Profiles, Cyber Bullying and Internet Safety as part of the School’s PSHE programme but we would also like to offer parents the opportunity to receive up to date information from experts in the field. Childnet International (www.childnet.com) has worked with the government, online industry, adults and children and is a nationally respected organisation.

Oxbridge Explained Lower Sixth students interested in learning more about applying to Oxford or Cambridge should attend an afternoon of presentations and workshops on Saturday 3 February from 2pm until 5pm. Parents are welcome to attend the keynote presentation at 2pm, although the subsequent workshops are for students only. Please contact Mr Culver if you would like to attend on ndc@kes.hants.sch.uk.
We are delighted to let you know that they will be delivering the talk to parents on the evening of the 20 February. The seminar is expected to last for about 1 hour with the opportunity to ask questions at the end.
