Throughout the year we invite families to come and experience our School, to help decide if King Edward VI School is right for your child.

Open Evening

Our annual Open Evening, which takes place in October, provides the perfect, and informal, chance for families to experience life at King Edward’s. During the event, we use the entire school site, allowing families to see all of our impressive facilities, as well as subject areas and classrooms. Visitors will be given a map of the school upon entry, and have the option to be guided around the school by one of our students, who can share their personal experience of settling into life at KES. Students will show you our brand new (opened September 2022) Sixth Form Concourse and Gym, as well as our Wellbeing Centre, sports facilities and the Library. All staff at King Edward’s will be on-hand throughout the evening, providing families with the opportunity to ask about the curriculum, pastoral support, learning needs, applications, funding, finance and more. Mr Parker, Head, will also be providing a couple of talks from the Dobson Theatre; which families are able to book. The Senior Leadership Team, Heads of Departments and Heads of Year will also be on hand throughout the evening. Taster Mornings

Our popular Taster Morning events are a fantastic way for parents and children to experience the School. During the event families will have the chance to meet the Head, explore the school and grounds, learn more about King Edward’s and join us for lunch. The format for the event is detailed below. (10.00am) Arrive for refreshments and registration before pupils will experience three short taster lessons* and parents will attend a welcome address from the Head, Mr Parker (10.30am). Parents will then be taken on a tour of the School (11.15am), ending the visit with families joining us for lunch (12.00pm – 12.45pm).

*Please note that the actual taster lessons offered will vary in subject from event to event. Subjects cannot be guaranteed in advance. Dates for these events are published on our website throughout the year. My daughter enjoyed the taster classes and got a feel for what life might be like as a pupil at KES which was really important for us all to understand.

Individual Tours

Individual Tours are bookable throughout the year, and are with a senior member of staff. These tours are available for families to take during the school day, providing a real insight into what your child can expect day-to-day. There will be opportunities to drop into lessons, tour the school and ask questions to the member of staff. To enquire about a tour, please email the admissions team on registrar@kes.hants.sch.uk.
