About the Lion Fund The Lion fund is to ensure there is a regular channel for those who wish to support the school financially according to their means. At KGV we believe in the powerful impact of collective unrestricted gifts: every donation counts no matter what the amount is. They have an essential role in increasing the resources available to the students outside the school fees and the ESF contribution devoted to teaching and administrative costs as well as school maintenance. The donations can be deployed at a moment’s notice to purchase equipment which will have an immediate impact on the current students’ experience. Your ongoing support provides flexibility to school leadership as it identifies projects that will ensure an unmatched student experience. Your gift will make a difference!

Books for the LRC “The Fung Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is now open and students are thrilled by the opportunities that the new space provides. Rates of book borrowing have rocketed and the LRC is alive with the buzz of young people engaged in their learning. While the school continues to invest in both the physical and electronic resources available to students it has become clear that there is a new opportunity to rapidly develop our collection in line with our changing curriculum and increased demand. It is with this in mind that we are launching the Fung Learning Resources Centre book drive. We welcome donations of any amount that would allow us to improve both our fiction and non-fiction collections. A donation of HKD$150 will purchase a fiction title and HKD$550 a nonfiction title. Your generosity will be acknowledged with a bookplate stating your name and date of donation on the inside cover of books purchased with your donation. The books will be selected from a reading list submitted by departments and will be directly related to the topics studied by our students Mr. Duncan Shiel (Learning Resource Centre Manager & History Teacher)

Partnerships “Centre For Excellence’’ KGV celebrates its tradition of excellence in the Arts and Sports by developing partnerships with practitioners from the local and Global Community. We recognize that many of our alumni are accomplished practitioners and have an interest in giving something back – as their interest in Arts or Sports was very often sparked through their own school experience. We seek to use our funding to initiate further links and to ensure that current connections remain mutually rewarding to both parties, as we feel this is the best way to nurture long term, sustainable partnerships with a focus on learning. What our Partnerships “Look Like”: Artists in Residence: We would bring established, working artists into KGV for a period of time, to give students the experience of working with and alongside professionals. Expert Visits: Performing Artists, visiting Authors, Actors and Directors to deliver workshops and seminar sessions to KGV students Partnerships with Industry: Long term relationships with Media, Visual Art, Sports and Performing Arts groups in Hong Kong, that including student visits to studios, mentorship programmes, careers guidance and possible internships. Mr. Ciaran O’Halloran (Learning Director: Creativity & Performance)

Stories of Generosity KGV has a history of philanthropy. Here are just a few stories...

Benches The benches along the driveway were donated by the Year 13 students in 2012: this gesture enabled us to improve the sidewalk of the driveway and also enables students to sit down while waiting for their school bus or parents The Lion Fund 2014 | 8

Swimmers cap Thanks to a generous gift from a KGV parent, all the swimmers cap of the Upsdell house have been donated to students for the swimming gala. A similar kind donation has been made to provide athletic vests for cross country and athletics for the track and field interhouse competition!
