Beauty in Isolation - Hanna Kobs

Beauty in Isolation

by Hanna Kobs

We are so far apart farther than ever before yet we are closer only four meters standing between us as we help each other through the isolation

We walk around in circles to keep the boredom away as vibrant music brightly colors the still air and we dance in place with heavy joy

The wind whispers in my ear as I stare up at the sky now full of stars shining brightly in the night They shimmer off the bark of the bare winter trees wet from the chilled evening shower The air crisp against my skin not too cold though my fingers are stiff

The silence between us is comforting broken only by crickets chirping and leaves rustling unspoken words not needing to be said because we know the other feels it too

All too soon it has to end and we go back to an even greater distance with walls to keep us apart but the memory of connection during isolation the beauty of the moments shared will keep us close even as we disperse to distant corners of the globe
