King’s Cool Reads

New Library website Library webpages have been added to the School Information section of the School Website: www.kings.lincs.sch.uk. Please have a look at them and let us know what you think. We welcome feedback and any ideas for additional pages. We also have a new Library Catalogue system. The online search tool will be operational shortly on the School network via the Library Portal on the Favourites list in Internet Explorer. You will not need another password to access it.

Dads & Lads, Mums & Sons Book Reviews Congratulations to Matthew Boulton who won, together with his Dad, our latest Book Review competition. Matthew and his Dad were the first to read and review ten books for our Library blog: http://kingschoollib.blogspot.com/. Matthew and his Dad have gone on to produce their own book review blog: http://mattnjohnsreadingdiary.blogspot. com/. We will be relaunching our book review competition in September.

On 3 March 2009 the King's Warhammer team won the Regional Finals of the Schools Tournament at Warhammer World, Nottingham. Angus Croudace won the Lord of The Rings Best Painted army. Congratulations to all of the boys, their behaviour and sportsmanship was, as always, exemplary. Two teams will go on to compete in the National Finals on 8 July.

Take a look at the following: Year 7: www.librarything.com/catalog/kings7 Year 8: www.librarything.com/catalog/kings8 Year 9: www.librarything.com/catalog/kings9 You can also see books that staff and governors have recommended (under development – they are obviously too busy teaching!): www.librarything.com/catalog/kingsstaff You can browse through some of the new books in the School Library: www.librarything.com/catalog/kingsnew To help you with your Maths, here is Mr Kearsley Bullen’s “Cool Maths Reads”: www.librarything.com/catalog/kingsmaths This is an ongoing project so please keep the book recommendations coming in. The Times book tokens Thanks to all who brought in the Books for Schools tokens. We have already been able to order some free books for the Library. We are still collecting the tokens which appear daily in The Times/Sunday Times. There are collection boxes in the Library, at Reception and in the Staff Room.
