Wear a helmet to protect your head in case you bang your head against a rock or you fall.

3. Wear a harness, so then the rope can attach to your waist. 4. Get some climbing shoes. They will give you a better grip of the rock. 5. Wear clothes that you think are not going to rip, so if a crack is there and your clothes get stuck in it you have some reliable clothes.

Now we have grades for how hard the rock that you are climbing is. For example: 5.0 to 5.7 is easy, 5.8 to 5.10 is intermediate, and 5.11 to 5.12 is hard. But also 5.13 to 5.15 if it is really really hard! Before people used rock climbing to get from place to place because the mountain was in the middle of there path, and now they do it for fun and exercise.
