There was a man from Oregon Left his tools to be a father to his son — Now he’s without his tools and he’s without his son, Still he doesn’t understand his son is grown, his son is a man. There are so many reasons to ask him why he stayed for so many seasons — The choice was his to make and there’s a lesson to be learned from watching man ’cause you'll find the lives that are lost aren’t found again, And oh, the joy of living .. .

MARTHA BONNER VANDERVLIET

Time seems to stand right still — In a child’s world it always will. Yesterday's dreams are Tomorrow’s sighs — Watch the children playing, They seem so wise. Wowie Zowie!

To be or not to be is not the problem. As we a fallen angel or a risen worm? That is the question!

Everybody’s a dreamer and everybody’s a star, And everybody’s in movies, it doesn’t matter who you are. There are stars in every city, In every house and on every street And if you walk down Hollywood Boulevard Their names are written in concrete! Everybody’s a dreamer and everybody’s a star, And everybody’s in show biz, it doesn’t matter who you are. And those who are successful, Be ALWAYS on your guard, Success walks hand in hand with failure Along Hollywood Boulevard.

The reply was... I am but a lump of clay, but I was placed beside a rose and caught its fragrance.

A man once said to a lump of clay, What art thou?

SUE KRAWIEC

Sweet dreams of yestertime Are running through my mind Of a place I left behind Good-bye don't mean I'm gone

JULIE SHINABARGER

It’s all in your smile that brings, especial things about you.

These words I write will never describe the how of what I feel for you, These words will never mean the what of that I want them to, these words won’t express the deep mean of what I have to know these words won’t generate the inner warmth I want to always show. These words which are so hard to write, aren’t hard because of rhyme, these words are not difficult

SUSAN DiTULLIO

because of lack of time these words are hard because they’re not all they seem to be these words that I have tried so much to express, these words that can never be no less, than these words that I have tried to say to you these words that say, I Need You...

Twelve members of the senior class have attended Low-Heywood since the sixth grade, traveling from Courtland Avenue to Newfield Avenue, from innocence to experience.(!!?) Their names are; Karen Amore, Betsy Thomas, Heidi Udell, Pat Lowman, Leslie Learner, Gail Sarner, Patty Rubin, Deyanne Miller, Jill Marks, Kathy Fieber, JulieWaters, Marianna Siderides.

Twelve girls have seen the school go through remarkable changes; a new location, a modi fied uniform, a new headmistress and an almost completely changed faculty. But some things about Low-Heywood, the traditions and the feeling around the school have not changed and they are what makes the school the way it is. This was our class in 6th grade and we havechanged a littletoo.

HISTORY OF THE YEAR September 1974 — Thiry-seven seniors claim their carrels, look nervously at the library row marked “ College C atalogues" and march around self-consciously in brown blazers, yel low and oatmeal sweaters. Autumm — Life slides into field hockey games, eighth period science labs, expectations of upcoming weekends. Initial preparations for the East Coast Model UN to be held a LowHeywood in April are made. Hey-day and Pot Pourri create issues and LDP stages a canned food drive and sponsors a tutoring program in the elementary schools. Anguished cries from the seniors: “ How can I prepare a term paper with college applications, job, regular homework, parties, life? Does 'Seniors-in-Action' count as an extra-curricular activity?” Some escape to the House for relief.

December — Sue DiTulio and Sally Hellier battle for earliest college acceptances. Seniors plan for internships in February. Underclassmen: “ Could you please get us a hot chocolate mix, a cookie, two cookies, three cookies?” Christmas party with lots of edibles. Junior class plans for the March Junior Party. The Glee Club and the Drama Club stage “ Amore or Less” transporting vaudeville and the flash of a musical comedy to the Low-Heywood stage. January — Seniors start on internship with some in exotic locales and some in Stamford. The internships include government work, teach ing, Bermuda research, college courses, crea tive arts projects and North Dakota cold. The daily trek to King becomes colder and wet ter.

March — The Junior Party, when another class claims their upcoming seniority, is staged. The seniors watch, realiz ing that they have just acknowledged their equals, and their future. Some discover that washing dishes is a good excuse for being late for class. April — The East Coast Model UN Conference, with over five hundred people in attendance. “ Are you from Poland or Uganda; where is the committee meeting on internation al security?" College acceptances: “ I got in! I got in!” Acceptances include Brown, Pine Manor, Smith, Rollins, University of Colorado, Ohio Wesleyan and UPenn. Will ing Night and the passing out of the paraphernalia that the seniors have collected from past Willing Nights.

To The Low-Heywood Graduates of 1975 There’s no thrill in easy sailing, When the sky is clear and blue; There's no joy in merely doing Things which anyone can do. But there is some satisfaction That is mighty sweet to take When you’ve reached a destination That you thought you couldn’t make.
