Component 2: Post-1914 Prose/Drama; 19th Century Prose; Unseen Poetry (closed book) (60% of the total GCSE marks) A written exam (2.5 hours) to show detailed knowledge of two prose and drama texts, and skills in responding to unseen poetry. Students will study: The History Boys by Alan Bennett The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson
All students study English Literature and follow the EDUQAS GCSE course. Assessment of the English Literature GCSE (C700QSL) is divided into two components: Component 1: Shakespeare and Poetry (closed book) (40% of the total GCSE marks) A written exam (2 hours) to show detailed knowledge of Shakespeare and poetry set texts. Set texts include: • Macbeth • Poetry anthology of a range of 18th - 20th century poems chosen by the exam board
