Exam Board : EDUQAS ENGLISH LITERATURE

All students study English Literature and follow the EDUQAS GCSE course.

Assessment of the English Literature GCSE (C700QSL) is divided into two components:

Component 1: Shakespeare and Poetry (closed book) (40% of the total GCSE marks)

A written exam (2 hours) to show detailed knowledge of Shakespeare and poetry set texts.

Set texts include: • Macbeth • Poetry anthology of a range of 18th - 20th century poems chosen by the exam board Component 2: Post-1914 Prose/Drama; 19th Century Prose; Unseen Poetry (closed book) (60% of the total GCSE marks)

A written exam (2.5 hours) to show detailed knowledge of two prose and drama texts, and skills in responding to unseen poetry.
