LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT We acknowledge that King’s University College is located on the traditional lands of the Anishinaabek, Haudenosaunee, Lunaapéewak, and Attawandaron peoples, on lands connected with the London Township and Sombra Treaties of 1796 and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum. With this, we respect the longstanding relationships that Indigenous Nations have to this land, as they are the original caretakers. We acknowledge historical and ongoing injustices that Indigenous Peoples (e.g. First Nations, Métis, and Inuit) endure in Canada, and we accept responsibility as a public institution to contribute toward revealing and correcting miseducation as well as renewing respectful relationships with Indigenous communities through our teaching, research and community service.

A Place to Think, Imagine, and Create Programs Overview Students in most Year 1 programs take a range of courses from a variety of disciplines. They do not declare a major(s) until they have completed their first year. Arts Bachelor of Arts (BA) OUAC Program Code: EKA

• Catholic Studies • Catholic Studies for Teachers • English • Foundations in Western Thought and Civilization • French • Philosophy • Religion and Society • Social and Political Thought • World Religions and Culture

Childhood and Youth Studies Bachelor of Arts (BA) OUAC Program Code: EKC

The Childhood and Youth Studies (CYS) program combines a unique focus on identifying often overlooked child competencies, a constructive questioning of existing understandings of childhood, and an exploration of the implications of the changing status of children and childhood in Canada and internationally.

Disability Studies Bachelor of Arts (BA) OUAC Program Code: EKB

Disability Studies (DS) rethinks traditional and medical approaches to imagining disability, mental health and related social institutions using a liberal arts lens to explore the variety of possible, yet uncommonly shared, meanings. Through analysis of everyday life cases, we reconfigure the common perception that it is the disability that needs to be fixed or cured, and instead look at ways the social, policy and built environments can be adapted.

Human Rights Studies Bachelor of Arts (BA)

Social Sciences Bachelor of Arts (BA)

OUAC Program Code: EKH

OUAC Program Code: EKO

Human Rights are based on the belief that every human being deserves to be treated with equal dignity, and that every person has inherent value. But how do we move towards these goals? Human Rights Studies questions not only how we fulfill these ideals, but also how we fail to do so in different times and places. It equips students with the intellectual and practical skills they need to explore, understand, and act as change agents in the equal granting of all human beings the status and the rights associated with their being.

• Analytics and Decision Sciences • Criminology • Economics • Finance • History • Political Science • Psychology • Sociology

Finance and Wealth Management Bachelor of Arts (BA) (combined program with a 2-year diploma from Fanshawe College) OUAC Program Code: EKF

The Finance & Wealth Management program is a 4-year collaborative program offered by King’s and Fanshawe. Successful graduates of the program will receive a Bachelor of Arts - Finance (3 year) degree from Western University, and a Business - Finance (2 year) diploma from Fanshawe College.

Social Justice and Peace Studies (SJPS) Bachelor of Arts (BA) OUAC Program Code: EKJ

The SJPS program is one of the only programs in Canada that combines the study and work of both justice and peace. This program critically examines the root causes of social injustice and violence in society, in our community and in the world. And it innovatively explores alternatives to injustice and violence by focusing on how to build peace and justice.

Thanatology Bachelor of Arts (BA) OUAC Program Code: EKT

The only degree program of its kind in North America, the Thanatology program offers a wide variety of courses including an overview of bereavement and grief, ethical issues, palliative care, suicide, children and death, spiritual and philosophical issues, change and transition, popular culture, grief and trauma, and diversity and social justice. It includes a practicum course which includes a 45-hour field placement, and a grief counselling course which involves experiential learning of basic counselling skills.

King’s has agreements with Western’s Faculty of Education. Graduates from the Catholic Studies for Teachers, Childhood and Youth Studies, French, and Social Justice and Peace Studies programs who successfully graduate with an overall final average of 75% or greater, and who fulfill all other admissions requirements to the Faculty of Education, are guaranteed entry to either the J/I or I/S streams.
