North Horsham Parish Council hopes that all of its residents are keeping safe during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak and following government guidance to wash hands thoroughly and often, and to stay home except for essential food or medicine or for essential work. The Parish Council would like to express its appreciation to all of those people in the parish who continue to work in front line services and who are working tirelessly for others at a very difficult time.
The Parish Council has taken the unprecedented step of closing its halls, multi courts and play areas until the end of May 2020. The decision is under constant review and if necessary the time period will be cut or extended. The Parish Council will not hold any meetings during April 2020 and this will also be under review. Regrettably, the Annual Parish Meeting which was scheduled for 20th April 2020 has also had to be cancelled for the time being. The Parish Council had invited Sussex Police, Legal and General (the developers for North Horsham), representatives of the Department of Education (for the Bohunt School) and the North Horsham Community Land Trust to speak at the Annual Parish Meeting and local District and County Councillors were invited to answer questions. It is hoped that the meeting can be held later in the year. Look out for the Annual Report that will be published by the Parish Council at the end of April.
Whilst public spaces at Amberley Close, Birches Road, Earles Meadow and Holbrook Tythe Barn remain open, residents must stay at least two metres apart and only exercise with other members of the family. You must not gather in the public spaces.
Parish Council staff are working in the background and if you need to contact the Parish Council it is best to use email. Whilst you can leave an answerphone message, it may not be collected immediately.
Horsham District Council is helping to co-ordinate support and help in the community and if you know of someone who needs help, or would like to volunteer to help, you can do so by contacting Horsham District Council on 01403 215230 or e-mailing Covid19.Support@horsham.gov.uk . More details are available on the Horsham District Council website.
Following significant representation to the Parish Council it has been decided to work towards submitting an application to West Sussex County Council for a Traffic
Regulation Order to paint double yellow lines on
Crawley Road near Roffey Corner to prevent cars parking on the grass verges and damaging them. If the application is to be successful, it needs support from local residents. It is envisaged that the application will be submitted around July 2020. If anyone has any views on these projects, wishes to support the application to WSCC or has any comments on any other work done by the Parish Council please get in touch. Further details on this will be published on the Parish Council’s website in due course.
