2015-2016 NEW FACULTY/STAFF Lower School MAYRA AYALA Pre-Kindergarten Assistant Mayra earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Houston. She served as a substitute teacher for Kinkaid this past year. She previously worked with Spring Branch ISD as a Kindergarten teacher.

ALLISON SHERMAN Second Grade Teacher Allison earned a B.S. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Oklahoma and an Ed.M. in Reading from the University of Central Oklahoma. She comes to us from Truman Primary School in Norman, Oklahoma where she has taught for the past five years.

LAURA TURNER Kindergarten Assistant Laura received a B.S. in Early Childhood Education and an M.Ed. from TCU. She comes to us from Tanglewood Elementary in Ft. Worth where she was a student teacher in Kindergarten and Second Grade.

MICHAEL VU Science Teacher Michael received a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston and an M.S. in Teaching from Rice University. He comes to us from Houston ISD where he taught Math and Science for the past year. Previously, he was Senior Education Project Manager at Baylor College of Medicine for seven years.

Middle School KARLI BUMBAUGH English Teacher Karli received a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M. She comes to us from Allen Academy where she has served for the past six years and has taught English, History and Journalism.

ANIKA FULLER-WILLIS Math Teacher Anika received a B.A. in Elementary Education from Southern University at New Orleans, an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction from Prairie View A&M, and is a doctoral candidate at Texas Southern University. She comes to us from Friendswood ISD where she taught Math for the past year. Prior to that, she taught Math and Science at the Imani School. She has also taught in the Ft. Bend ISD and the Dallas ISD.

REBECCA LEAHY Science Teacher Rebecca has a B.A. in Multidisciplinary Studies from Stony Brook University and an M.A. in Environmental Conservation Education from New York University. She has served as Secondary Science Curriculum Coach in the Cypress Fairbanks ISD for the past six years. Previously, she was Dean of Students at The Beekman School in New York and has also taught in Florida.

JACK MATTHEWS History Teacher Jack has a B.A. in History from Rutgers University and is working on an M.A. in History from the University of Manchester. Jack has worked as a teacher’s aide at the Middle Grades Partnership in Baltimore. Other experience includes serving as head coach at the LaxWorld Lacrosse Club, supervisor of the Metro Lacrosse League in Baltimore, and Field Director/ Dorm Supervisor at the MVP Lacrosse Camps in New Jersey.


MALLORY MEYER History Teacher Mallory received a B. A. in Integrated History Education from Wittenberg University and an Ed.M. in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard. She taught Social Studies at Colegio Los Nogales in Bogota, Colombia for the past four years, while also serving as a Group Director. She has also served as a teacher assistant and long-term substitute in Illinois.

JENNIFER SHELBY Math and Science Teacher Jennifer earned a B.A. in Biology from The University of Texas at Austin. She comes to us from Second Baptist School where she served as Science teacher. She previously taught at Westlake High School in Austin.

SHAYLA THOMAS Math Teacher Shayla received a B.A. in Mathematics from Agnes Scott College and a Ph.D. in Educational Research & Policy Analysis from North Carolina State University. She comes to us from St. John’s where she has taught for the past nine years. She has also taught at North Carolina State University.

Upper School SARAH CEGELSKI Spanish Teacher Sarah received a B.A. in University Scholars from Baylor University, an M.A. in Spanish Linguistics, and a Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been a Teaching Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for the past five years. She previously taught at Baylor University, and before that she served as an English Language and Culture Assistant at Colegio Villalkor in Madrid.

ALLISON DAS Latin Teacher Allison received a B.A. in Classics from the University of North Carolina, and an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Classics from the University of Washington. She has served as a teaching assistant and research assistant at the University of Washington for the past seven years.

EDITH HORRELL Science Lab Coordinator (part time) Edith received a B.S. in Geology from Duke University and an M.A. in Geology from the University of Missouri. She has tutored algebra, geometry and Middle School math and has served as a substitute teacher at St. John’s and Kinkaid.

JENNIFER KINCAID Upper School Dean Jennifer has a B.A. in English and Communication from Trinity University and an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College. She has served as Director of College Counseling at Greenhill School since 2010. Before that, she was Associate Director of College Guidance at the Loomis Chaffee School for eight years.

NICHOLAS SHEPARD Anatomy and Physiology Teacher (part-time) Nicholas received a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Cornell University. He has served as a teaching assistant at Cornell and as Lead Tutor at C2 Education in Houston.


Athletics HALEY OUTON Coach and Physical Education Teacher Haley earned a B.S. in Health from the University of Houston. She has served as a substitute volleyball, basketball and softball coach at Kinkaid for the past year. Her work experience includes serving as Head Coach for the Texas Aces Jacoby softball team, camp counselor at the University of Houston softball camps, and Assistant Head Coach for the Texas Blaze 16U team.

LARRY WILKINS Boys Basketball Program Head Larry received a B.S. in Christian Education from William Jessup University, and an M.A. in Education/ Administration & Supervision from the University of Phoenix. He comes to us from St. Francis Episcopal where he has served as Assistant Head of Middle School for the past seven years, and had previously held positions there as Assistant Athletic Director, Admissions Recruiter and basketball coach.

Fine Arts DAVID BERTHOLD Technical Director David received a B.F.A. in Theatre from Webster University and an M.Ed. in Teaching from the University of Texas at Arlington. He expects to complete his Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M in 2017. He comes to us from the Emery Weiner School where he has taught theatre classes and served as Technical Theater Director for the past three years. He previously served as teacher and Technical Theater Director at Fort Worth Country Day School.

ANDREW “CHIP” COLVIN Music Director and Staff Accompanist Chip earned a B.M. in Piano Performance from Houston Baptist University and an M.M. in Keyboard Collaborative Arts from the University of Southern California. He comes to us from Random Farms Kids’ Theater where he served as Music Director/ Pianist/Conductor. He has served at a number of schools, including Harvard Westlake, Houston Baptist University, and Strake Jesuit. He has also worked as a conductor and pianist on cruise ships.

DAVID HALLMAN Technical Theatre Assistant (part-time) David received a B.F.A in Theatre from the University of South Carolina Aiken. He has built sets for Episcopal High School and the Texas Renaissance Festival and currently serves as Theatre Manager at Station Theatre.

Staff JOHN DUNN SECURITY STAFF John is a retired Master Police Officer from Newport News, Virginia where he served for many years.

REBECCA HOFFMAN Admission Assistant Rebecca graduated in May 2015 from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Public Relations.

EMILY GORDON Coordinator of Community Service Emily received a B.A. in English from Texas A&M and an M.A. in Religious Studies from Sacred Heart University. She has served as Director of Global Programs, Diversity, and Community Service in the Upper School at School of the Holy Child in Connecticut for the past two years where she previously taught Religious Studies. Prior to joining Holy Child, she served as Director of Childcare at Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church.


JESSE GOMEZ Grounds Technician Jesse comes to us from Fluor Corporation where he worked as a landscaper.

DEVRIN HORTON Grounds Technician Devrin has spent the last five years working as a custodian and custodial supervisor for Lone Star College and Magnolia ISD.

LINDA NEUMAN Accounts Payable Linda has returned to Texas after living in Oregon. She has many years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping and office management and has most recently worked in Accounts Payable for Graphic Packaging International in Vancouver, Washington.

LISA SAMBRANO Director of Health Services Lisa received a B.S. in Nursing from The University of Texas Health Science Center. She has served as a School Nurse for Conroe ISD for the past nine years. Past experience also includes Hermann Hospital, Memorial Hermann Hospital and Matria.

MARIE-PIERRE STIEN Director of Human Resources Marie received a B.B.A. from EM Lyon and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. She has served as Director of Human Resources and Talent Acquisition at Weinstein Spira for the past three years. She has previously served in Human Resources leadership positions with Douglass Media Group, The University of St. Thomas, Rice University and has worked with several other companies in the Houston area.

CAMERON WHITAKER Assistant Communications Manager Cameron received a B.J. degree from The University of Texas at Austin. He comes to us from the Carbonara Group where he worked as an Account Assistant. He previously worked with Klein ISD as a Multimedia Communications Specialist.

Changes Within the School CURT BROOKS has been named the Assistant Director of Physical Education. SARAH DINGER was promoted to Assistant Director of Admission. BOBBY EGGLESTON has been named Program Head for both the Boys and Girls Golf Programs. KEN MALONE was promoted to the position of Security Manager in February. ANGIE NICKENS has been named an Assistant Athletics Director. ANITA ORELLANA has been promoted to Facilities Operations Team Leader. DIANE ROBERTS has changed from Director of Health Services to part-time nurse. New Health Services Staff: JUDY LEE – Health Services Administrative Assistant (part-time)
