Chelsea Cunningham ’02 started Chelsea Interiors, a full service design firm in Houston, Texas, in September of 2014. Projects range from concept to completion or can be simply on a consultation basis. Whatever the arrangement, Chelsea ensures that clients’ requirements are fully met. Chelsea Cunningham graduated from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in 2006. After a stint with PaperCity magazine, she pursued a Master’s in Interior Design from the Corcoran School of Art and Design. She then honed her skills at the prestigious Houston firm of Chandos Interiors. Influenced by architecture and design during her travels, Chelsea has developed an expertise in combining the unique properties of any building - whether old or new - with a subtle mix of traditional and contemporary furnishings. Although not one to shy away from taking risks, her underlying mantra is to stay true to three of the core principles of design – scale, proportion and symmetry.

Lindsay McMackin Sturm ’97 graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English. She attributes her decision to pursue this major to her Kinkaid English teachers, Callie Law, Jeanne Alsup and Barry Moss. During college Lindsay was published twice in The Austin Review – an independent, nonprofit literary journal. Lindsay moved to New York City in August 2001, determined to make it in the “big city” with a writing career. After hearing of her roommate’s company – a multi-line fashion showroom representing up-and-coming fashion designers – Lindsay re-directed her energy toward a design-centric career and began working as a sales account executive for COC + CO, the showroom credited with launching such brands as Me & Ro, Kooba, Lela Rose, and Kate Spade. Lindsay worked in the fashion industry in New York City for eight years and then returned home to Houston where she continued her work in fashion with local fashion designer Elaine Turner. After 12 years in the fashion industry, Lindsay resolved to put fashion in the ‘rearview mirror’ and re-channel her enthusiasm for design on architectural and interior designfocused work. She is now the Director of Sales for Chateau Domingue, a Houston-based company specializing in architectural antiques and monumental building elements, primarily from 16th – 19th c. Europe. She celebrates the opportunity to blend her love of connecting with people and working in a design-focused, creative environment every day. Lindsay also has her 200 hr. RYT certification (yoga teacher) although she is not currently teaching and is training for her third marathon.

LEE WILDE ’08 Arena Design Assistant in Design/Head of the Digital Production Branch lgwilde7@gmail.com After getting a lot of encouragement from her art teachers at Kinkaid, Lee Wilde ’08 went on to get her undergraduate degree in Studio Art. She attended the University of Mississippi, was accepted into the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program and focused her studies on printmaking and graphic design. After finishing school, the plans of attending graduate school were put on hold when she met Rusty Arena and started working at Arena Design here in Houston. Established over 35 years ago, the studio creates silkscreened couture textiles and wall-coverings for mainly residential interiors. Lee is the Assistant in Design and Head of the Digital Production Branch that utilizes wide format plotters to create capsule collections seasonally. Over the past year, Lee spearheaded a partnership with Restoration Hardware for its Fall 2016 collection. Along with working in the design trade, the studio aims to have at least two art shows year; most of the pieces are mixed media, prints, and paintings. The next show is on view for the month of October at the Jung Center in the Museum District. Lee is a member of the Houston Botanic Garden Group and is currently in training to become a yoga teacher at Black Swan Yoga in the Heights.

Christine Sangalis ’11 began her event planning career in 2015, following her graduation from the University of Texas at Austin, where she majored in Public Relations. Christine is now a consultant with Keely Thorne Events, with experience across a wide range of events and venues. Her love for wedding and event planning dates back to her senior year internship at Kinkaid, where she first got a glance at the industry! She is able to coordinate an event from start to finish through open communication, listening to her clients’ vision and maintaining the highest organizational skills. Her passion for discovering new trends while combining them with a classic sense of traditionalism allows her to create a style for each client’s individual uniqueness. Christine strives to be involved in every aspect of the wedding from hiring vendors, designing paper products and décor, creating time lines, to executing the event with attention to detail, maintaining poise with a great team of professionals. Her philosophy is that each wedding should be a direct reflection of the couple’s personality and story and makes it a priority for every client to enjoy the planning process. As a planner, she is always learning from previous event experience and continues industry research, as it is a constantly evolving industry.

During her time at Kinkaid, Rashi Agrawal ’09 was often found scurrying between the bio lab in Dr. Clayton’s class and editing The Falcon in Mrs. David’s journalism room. With an interest in media and biology, Rashi graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Public Relations while completing her pre-physical therapy courses. Immediately after graduation, Rashi moved to Los Angeles, CA to attend physical therapy school at the University of Southern California where she received her doctorate in Physical Therapy. She found her passion to be in brain and spinal cord injuries, and currently is doing a physical therapy residency in Neurology at the Harris Health System in the TX Medical Center. Between the schooling and clinical care, Rashi often finds herself still writing and doing graphic design as hobbies to keep her interest in public relations alive! She hopes to merge both fields as she continues on into her career and is grateful that she first found what she was meant to do at Kinkaid.
