EVERYTHING BELONGS TOGETHER We are all part of one whole. When we feel like we are truly participating and happy, we become more involved. Interior design is important to create creative working environments and for us as people to feel good. It must therefore be adapted to the individual, group or organisation and not the other way round. It is about how we sit and stand; what we do and how we feel. Different work duties require different lighting. Good acoustics make it possible to alternate between communication and concentration. Colours and shapes stimulate our motivation. Each part is equally important.

WORKSTATIONS Enjoyable environments.

WORKSTATIONS

A good workplace is an environment where people enjoy themselves, are creative, keep healthy and feel motivated. Our aim is that our chairs, tables and storage furniture will help you to create a functional and creative general environment. Ergonomics is our focus so that you can feel as good as possible when working. We place great importance on design in order to create beautiful and appealing environments. We offer interior design that creates enjoyment, neatness and tidiness, and which is easy to change when needed; no matter whether the workplace is for tens, hundreds or thousands of employees. The furniture is adapted to the environment, requirements, the group and the individuals. All to make your work day as good as possible.

In our workplaces, we do not just share our day, our space and our work tasks with each other - we are also involved in an exchange of knowledge and social belonging, which provides positive added value. Sharing knowledge and friendship with your colleagues means that you often receive more than you give, right from the start. You expand your network and your own expertise.

ESENCIA a well-designed task chair. The Esencia is well-designed and thought-through down to the last detail. Each design and assembly choice is made to create both an appealing and functional chair. You sit comfortably and ergonomically. The classical, timeless and, at the same time, sleek design by the renowned Daniel Figueroa, makes the Esencia flexible and easy to position. There are many different exciting colours and fabric combinations to choose from - all to help you find the chair that best suits your environment.

PRODUCTS

When Daniel Figueroa designed Esencia he gave the chair both soul and personality. We named it Esencia after the Latin word essentia. It means the essential, the core of the matter or the crucial element. And the chair is thought through down to last detail in terms of choice of materials, shape and functionality. What is essential for you is of greatest importance to us.

DESIGNERS

”What links everything together for me is partly the feeling of the material, but also the playfulness. I try to find some sort of ’feeling of happiness’ in everything I do.”

“What is most important of course is to use the right material for the right product. This is a science in itself, which many may not think about, but it is really important in my work. The environmental aspect is obviously vital, but the feeling a material and a product conveys is also important. Take wood, for example. It emanates warmth.”

CHRISTIAN HALLERÖD

DESIGNERS

is a Swedish designer who works with everything from furniture to interior shop fittings and fashion. For Kinnarps, he has designed a number of items, including the sound-absorbing Oktav and Prim screens, plus the Polett wooden chair. Christan HallerÜd is known for putting aesthetics and function at the core of his designs, something which he has also done with the sound-absorbing Prim. His minimalist design highlights the screen’s unique padding. More details about Prim can be found on page 52.

The six-sided hexagon shape can be found in nature for instance in snowflakes, in honeycombs or in tortoise shells. It is one of the most space-efficient shapes in nature which can be combined and fit together in infinity. This is why the Trixagon range of furniture is designed in this way. Being innovative, flexible and stimulating all at once. The Trixagon range consists of tables, storage units and stools. The pieces in the series can be combined in an infinite number of ways. Trixagon is both a symbol of constant development and a solid piece of furniture that supports modern learning. Depending on how the products are positioned, completely different types of environments can be created, which is a major advantage if the furniture needs to be arranged quickly, or if a change is needed in the work environment. ”Trixagon is about learning, communication and teaching. These three facets fit together in the same way as Trixagon’s furniture fits together. Trixagon symbolises development and dialogue, with a focus on results” Anne Reinholdt, Kinnarps Architect

DANIEL FIGUEROA

DESIGNERS

“A chair is so expressive and has so much soul and personality.

is a renowned furniture designer who lives in Germany. For Kinnarps his designs include the Salida and Entrada chairs, with Esencia being his latest. Daniel Figueroa has won many international design awards, including the prestigious Red Dot design award. He has extensive experience in designing furniture for working environments, and he enjoys designing task chairs most of all. For him, the greatest challenge is to make a chair that is comfortable to sit in for a long time. A lot of it is about function and ergonomics. Other aspects are also a high priority, such as choice of material and design.

THE FUTURE IS EXCITING How will the future affect us, or can we affect the future? We see how working life is undergoing a major change, or rather many major changes. In the Kinnarps Trend Report, we want to exemplify those changes that are of special importance for the workplace. Eight changes we deem will have an effect on the way we work, meet and learn in the future.

THE WORKING ENVIRONMENTS OF THE FUTURE ARE ALREADY HERE NEXT OFFICE Activity Based Working. ™

Table Ava, Chair Plint - Reference Diligentia

Nowadays, with the help of technology, we can work whenever and wherever we like. Research shows that the need for personal workplaces is on the decline and that there is an increasing need for flexible, activity-based environments instead. We need to create environments where we can find an optimal balance between private and social spheres, between meetings and individual work, and between concentration and dialogue. Kinnarps’ Next Office – ABW concept creates a variation on functional environments to suit the individual, the group, the situation and the need. Work spaces which are creative, flexible, inviting, and customised both for today and tomorrow.

”Changing to the activity based working environment of the future is not a furnishing project; it is a change project. The change is in three parts: the physical environment, digital environment and the organisation/management. The management team needs to be in charge of the change, but everyone must take part. Management moves from control to trust. We also need to find new ways of measuring performance in some cases - not just by using time.” Henrik Axell, Concept Developer of Kinnarps’ activity based working environment, Kinnarps Sweden.

As humans, we aim to achieve harmony in our homes. Balance for both the body and mind. This is why we need to think about the bigger picture. To find the balance between different elements and details. Interior design with different characteristics and attributes which harmonise and challenge each other to form a pleasing whole. Complementing straight lines, large windows and shiny surfaces with soft shapes, subdued lighting and lush plants. ”When we opened our new showroom in London, we noticed increased interest in the concept of the 3Cs – Collaboration, Concentration, Contemplation. It was clear that a bench-like working system for employees did not create a workplace suitable for tasks requiring great focus. Space to concentrate is very important. Employees who use mobile technology should have different types of space in the workplace which suit different types of tasks, such as working in groups, having planned meetings, informal meetings or doing focused thought based work.” Ian Weddell, Commercial Manager, Kinnarps UK

CAREFULLY THOUGHT-OUT DESIGN For increased enjoyment and wellbeing. Colour, form and function in harmony. As human beings, we appreciate pleasant and inspiring environments. Research shows that design actually has a greater impact on us than previously thought. It is about having a holistic view of the working environment and there being a clear connection between welfare/ wellbeing and creativity/efficiency. Investing in attractive design has therefore many advantages; in addition to getting employees

to thrive, you strengthen your own brand and become more attractive to new talent and employees. In the past few years, design has started to be taken more and more seriously, and it now affects the office environment on all levels.
