Kinsterna

Nestled in the historic region of Monemvasia, the Kinsterna Hotel is a meticulously restored 18th-century mansion that has been transformed into a 5-star boutique hotel since 2010. The hotel features 51 rooms, suites, residences, and two magnificent pool villas. Drawing inspiration from its rich history and breathtaking natural surroundings, the Kinsterna offers authentic hospitality, seamless harmony with nature, and extraordinary experiences that create lasting memories.

Along with the impressive restoration project, the estate’s rich natural environment, including the productivity of its agricultural land and gardens, are revived in the fertile 25-acre estate, so that the mansion can once again be self-sustaining. Take a tour of the mansion, learn everything about its long history and marvel the beauty of nature and its fruit which provide Kinsterna the opportunity to produce its own products, such as wine, extra virgin olive oil and table olives, tsipouro (traditional Greek spirit), bread, marmalade and other fruit preserves, soap and many more.

With breathtaking views of the Medieval Castle of Monemvasia and the endless blue of the Aegean Sea, enjoy our rich breakfast inspired by Greek creative cuisine. Fresh eggs from our henhouse, along with local fruits, herbs, and vegetables from our orchards, are combined in unique ways to enhance the dishes served at the all-day restaurant ‘mouries’ and the traditional tavern ‘linos’.

Discover Our History
The manor’s architectural and morphological features testify to the building’s Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman heritage and identity. The earliest known owner was Ibrahim Bey, probably one of the local Ottoman landlords who signed the delivery of Monemvasia in 1821. The manor was then inhabited until the 70’s by the “Lady of Monemvasia”, Lina Kapitsini. The main objective of its restoration was the maintenance of the original architecture using traditional building techniques, old and local natural materials.

Share Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in the principles of self-sufficiency and sustainability, thriving harmoniously within a vibrant natural environment as it has for centuries. The hotel is 100% energy autonomous thanks to the creation of its photovoltaic park, which not only meets our needs but also provides energy to vulnerable households, local churches, and the nursery school of Monemvasia. The age-old olive groves, orange groves, vineyards, cypress and eucalyptus trees, along with gardens featuring over 250 types of herbs and flowers and the Byzantine cistern, come together to offer an unparalleled hospitality experience to our guests.

Experience Our Diversity

The enchanting mansion is the perfect setting for weddings, while the library and event hall are ideal for corporate meetings, retreats, or seminars. The atmospheric Kinsterna Spa, featuring treatments made with products from the estate, revitalizes the body and mind. Immersive activities such as horse riding, bee keeping, and handmade soap-making, along with seasonal experiences like grape harvesting, olive oil production, and tsipouro distillation, are part of our culture, connecting guests with local traditions and nature.
