Kirkham Grammar School Junior, Infant and Pre-School Issue 9 Friday 12 February 2016 Dear Parents It is lovely to end the half term with beautiful spring weather and I hope the sunshine continues for everyone to enjoy over the holiday. The children are now all very tired and deserve their well earned break. As I have walked around the school with a number of visitors this week, we have noticed how much hard work, together with fun activities are taking place in the classrooms each day. Since the last newsletter we have enjoyed Indian cookery, an Artic explorer morning and Chinese New Year celebrations in the Infant department, whilst some of the Junior children have enjoyed a ride in a ‘Tuk Tuk’ for Chinese New Year and participated in a WW2 dog fight with hand-made planes! All the children have enjoyed the heats of our very first KGJS Talent contest, more of which you will hear about after the half term holidays! We have lots to look forward to next term, not least the various Choir competitions, Cheese & Wine Evening and of course lots of activity on the sporting front! It only remains for me to wish you a lovely half term and I look forward to seeing you all refreshed and relaxed on the return to school. On Monday 8 February, Reverend Bunday came into school to take our whole school assembly. He spoke to the children about carrying out one act of kindness each day for the 40 days of Lent. To the children’s delight, Reverend Bunday made pancakes with the help of Mrs Aldeen and a few of the children, with Mrs Aldeen even managing to successfully flip the pancake, much to the delight of the children! Mrs Shuttleworth was the chief taster at the end!! Thank you to Reverend Bunday for taking the time to come into KGJS.
