Welcome to
Sydney’s best neighbourhood!
F
irstly let me begin by wishing you all a very happy New Year! We’re confident we can get 2015 off to the best possible start with the exciting array of programs and activities you’re now holding in your hands. With a number of new additions to our bumper line-up for term one at the Kirribilli Neighbourhood Centre, or KNC as it’s more commonly known, there’s something in here for everyone. We’re particularly excited to confirm the date for our ever popular Seniors Week lunch – Tuesday17th March. Turn to pages 16-17 for all the mouth-watering details! And be sure to book early to avoid disappointment. Our marquee event always fills up fast! There’re also new computer classes, a weekly seniors activities and lunch programme, anew monthly entertainment for children in the playgroup, and an added session for our early-rising Yoga enthusiasts – Monday’s at 7am. Oh, and let’s not forget our new Little Worldlings program for weekly activities of Fun and Games through Languages
for expectant mothers, parents and children aged 3 to 7 years – in English, French, Mandarin and Spanish. Whether you’re enrolling in one of our many and varied workshops or classes, hosting a club event, or just dropping by to admire our outdoor garden setting, or to enjoy our extensive library or playground, we hope to see you soon at the KNC. Our doors are always open for you to pop in and see what we’re about. If you arrive on Friday, you’ll also be able to enjoy a coffee, light lunch or some delicious baked goods at our popular onsite cafe, open from 10am-2pm weekly. Our friendly staff, or one of our volunteers who help make the KNC such a vital part of your community, are also only a phone call away to guide you. We are also on Facebook, which has daily and weekly updates of what’s on. Whatever your community interests, or background, it’s my goal as General Manager to make the KNC your first port of call.
Have a safe and happy summer.

Kirribilli Markets “My favorite place to shop in Sydney has to be Kirribilli Markets, located just over the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Sydney has some amazing weekend markets, but this one has to be my favourite because you can find some fabulous vintage clothing for next to nothing plus you get the incredible views of Australia’s most famous landmark – Sydney Harbour. A lot of markets in the city can be quite expensive, but the Kirribilli Markets always seem to be the cheapest with the best variety of clothing. Although it’s a gamble, I always go there at the end of the day to get a better bargain when the prices drop even more. The Markets run every other week, alternating between the General and the Fashion Markets. Anyone can hold a stall and I love the atmosphere when they are on. Kirribilli is buzzing and it’s really lovely to walk around listening to the bands playing over by the food area to picking up a fresh loaf of bread to buying some flowers and obviously rummaging through the clothes stalls. I don’t think I have ever come away empty handed! It is definitely a ‘must do’ if you are visiting Sydney because there is also a beautiful walking path next to these markets which runs along Luna Park giving you the most beautiful uninterrupted views of the Harbour.”
