Kiryl Mikhalkevich on Finding the American Dream Through Customer Service An immigrant from Belarus, Kiryl Mikhalkevich, found the American dream on Route 66. Route 66 is a historic highway in the United States that was one of the original highways within the U.S. Highway System. It was established on November 11, 1926, and stretches from Chicago, Illinois, to Santa Monica, California. The route passes through several states, including Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California. Route 66 was one of the main routes for people migrating west during the Dust Bowl of the 1930s, and it symbolized the American spirit and the nation's ability to overcome adversity. It was also a popular road for vacationers, who would take "road trips" to see the sights and experience the culture of the various states and towns along the way. In the decades following its establishment, Route 66 became an iconic and beloved part of American culture and was immortalized in song and literature. Today, Route 66 is still a popular destination for travelers, who can drive or bike the route and experience the region's history, culture, and natural beauty. So, it is only natural that Mikhalkevich would name his moving company after this icon of the American dream. Kiryl Mikhalkevich was born in Belarus. He was a gifted and diligent student and even won a coveted admission to medical school. That same desire for freedom that sent millions of people to California over Route 66 inspired Mikhalkevich to come to America. It was only natural that he would name his first business venture in his new country, Route 66 Moving Service. Mikhalkevich has focused on putting the "service" into Route 66 Moving Service. Route 66 Moving and Storage was founded in 2008 as a simple moving service company. Mikhalkevich understood that most people find moving stressful. He recognized that his service could take care of the stress of moving so that people could focus on the joy of reaching a new destination. He realized that keeping customers happy would keep his business growing and create good business karma. "We care about our customers from the very first call, from the very first email," says Mikhalkevich, whose customers and employees know him by his American name Mike. Providing customers with a super-accurate quote, Kiryl says, helps families plan for their moves with confidence. Mikhalkevich makes sure his employees are available to respond to customer concerns about their moves at any time. "Just call us with your question, concern, or kudos anytime," he says, "and we will respond to you in the next hour or so." Route 66 likes to keep open communications with their customers, so they will always know when the movers will be there and how long their move is going to take, and also, so Route 66 will know about fragile, perishable, and valuable possessions customers want to be delivered safely.
