KIT GUSTAVSON
hi In my designs I focus mainly on sustainibility, user interaction, and design execution. My design-based skills lie in concepts and hand media currently, but my next hurdle to jump is 3D digital modeling. I relish the hunt for the perfect materials and furniture in speccing. My biggest strength is talking to people and working in team based environments because I feel like my conďŹ dence and eort level increases tenfold when someone has my back. I am determnied and will continue to perservere and ďŹ nd new solutions if something has not gone to plan.

NYC GARMENT FACTORY In this project I designed an oďŹƒce and production area for Darla Lindberg’s new head operation. She is an eco-friendly designer and treats her employees with the uptmost respect, so the space was designed using those same philosophies.
HISTORICAL VANCOUVER BARRACKS In this program-based studio, I re-designed the interiors of a WW1 era barrack to be used for a combination gallery/rentable art studio. Historical preservation was paramount in this project, as well as creating a program to present to our clients. The studio’s end results were given to clients in Vancouver as a shoot-o point for possible ideas in the real renovations.

CHAIR 1.0 In this studio I designed and built a chair myself, as well as a stool, I focused on site-appropriate design for the chair that was production ready., in order to learn how furniture is built to have a wider knowledge on the elements that make up interiors
original chair. open back against a glass wall that overlooked the entire student union
new chair allows for more privacy in a very public location
CHRYSANTHEMUM LIGHT In this project, my team analyzed the lighting of an existing restaurant using light meters and re-designed the lighting to create a better atmosphere and sove the existing problems. WE concluded that it was far too bright in the spae with regular measurements of over 400lux, so toning down the light was necessary. we also designed and built a new pendant light to replace the current plastic ones. Our new light pointed towards the ceiling to create a pattern of light and shadow. This added to the atmosphere of the space while not adding light to the table surface. We also reccomended that they dim down their existing recessed lighting for an easier solution

LIVE/WORK STUDIO 2..0 This project was focused on the building type of “living above the store”. This was my second take at the project. in this rendition i have 6 split-level units around a courtyard, underneath which is a salsa dance bar, a beeswax shop, and a nursery. It may seem like an eccentric assortment of shops but this project was based in Portland so it fits right in.
LIVE/WORK STUDIO 1.0 This project was also focused on the building type of “living above the store”. We were to design a 3 story building in Portland. This structure has a recording studio and a generic rentable space on the first floor, with 4 apartments above, that take up half of the floor. The plan was designed around the idea that there could be an exciting space within the lot while still having a facade that blended in with the rest of the older style buildings in the area.
THANK YOU
