Introduction to the Scholarship Program of Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation In 1980, past Kiwanis Governor Kenneth C. Forror, M.D. (pictured at the right), created the scholarship fund. The purpose was to provide help for Kiwanis Service Leadership Program, or SLP members within the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of Kiwanis. Since that fateful year of 1980, the scholarship program plays a vital role in the Kiwanis Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation. Each year, the Foundation provides for only members of the Cal-Nev-Ha Kiwanis Family typically $75,000—$110,000 in scholarships. To qualify for the scholarships, SLP students must be high school seniors (for Key Club/KIWIN’S) who plan to continue their education to a college, university, or institution of higher education for the next following school year. Those who are awarded the scholarships are a part of a selected few that have been active members within the SLP programs (Key Club, KIWIN’S or Circle K). Financial assistance is given due to their exceptional display of leadership, service, and spirit to their community, school, and Kiwanis Family while also showing academic ability as well.
