Kiwanis What is Kiwanis? Since 1915 the Kiwanis organization has been focused on changing the world by serving the children. Many Kiwanis clubs sponsor a Kiwanis Family club, SLPs, including: K-Kids for elementary school children, Builders Clubs for middle schoolers, Key Clubs/ CNH KIWIN’S Key Clubs for teens, Circle K clubs for university students and Aktion Clubs for adults living with disabilities.
Kiwanis Quick Facts Today Kiwanis can be found in over 80 nations worldwide and is 200,000+ members strong in in both its youth and adults clubs. The Kiwanis are able to serve 18.5 million volunteer hours annually. Motto: Serving the children of the world Their programs such as Terrific Kids and Bring Up Grades teach children to plan, set goals, and celebrate success with others, they also offer a weekend leadership retreat known as Key Leader (for more info talk to the Membership Development and Education Chair) . Objectives: To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life. � To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships. � To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business and professional standards. � To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship. � To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service and to build better communities. � To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.

Joint Service Events Invite them to your meetings, service events, fundraisers, DCMs and vice versa, ask to attend their events. Hold a career month where you invite different Kiwanis members to your meetings to talk about their career. Many Kiwanians have a special community project outside Kiwanis find out and offer your clubs services. For example, if they really passionate about community garden set up a joint service event with them at meeting.
Circle K What is Circle K? Circle K was originally formed as a Kiwanis club service project to help assist bright young college men with financial assistance via scholarship funds or part time employment. Soon afterwards, community service was introduced to Circle K and the first club was chartered at Carthage College in Illinois. Females were introduced into the organization in 1971. With their moto" Live to serve, love to serve!" they are able to dedicate thousands of hours of service each year. Today Circle K stands as the largest collegiate service organization with over 12,600 members in 500 campuses, in 17 nations worldwide.

Joint Service Ideas Attend your closest Circle K's “Key to College”specifically for Key Clubbers (and KIWINERS) to help give tips and tricks concerning college, officer positions, and life. Ask to start a mentor-mentee system with your local Circle K in which Key Clubbers and Circle K-ers can stay in contact throughout the year Have a joint service project together such as a beach clean up or a book gift wrapping social (make sure to fill out those ERF’s!) Have a fundraiser together like bowling, skating, or on a bigger scale a small festival or :”___” a thon!
Key Club What is Key Club? The first Key Club was formed in Sacramento in 1925 with only 11 chartered members and the idea of formation came from two Kiwanians by the names of Albert C. Olney and Frank C. Vincent. At first, Key Club was an all male organization full of students who had the will to serve and create a better school spirit all whilst performing service projects. In 1977, females were permitted to join Key Club. Key Club is the largest service program for high school students in the world with 270,000 members and 5,000 clubs in 37 different countries. Key Club embraces and stands for these core values : caring, inclusiveness, leadership and character building.

CNH KIWIN'S Key Club CNH KIWIN'S Key Club within Key Club International Key Club International is composed of 33 districts. Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN’S Key Club is the 32nd District of Key Club International. As a district in KCI, every CNH KIWIN’S Key Club member has a duty to follow the core values while also forming themselves into an ideal leader throughout their journey in the organization. In the California, Nevada, and Hawaii regions, there are two districts, CNH Key Club and CNH KIWIN'S Key Club, working together as a whole to create long lasting memories while making a difference in Key Club International.

Joint Service Ideas Hold joint service projects with neighboring clubs and division but be sure to fill out an ERF if it's necessary! Ask your LTG to hold a joint DCM with them Work together on your sponsoring Kiwanis service events (Specifically Kiwanis who sponsor both CNH KIWIN’S Key Club and Key Club) Bonfires and potlucks Study Groups with local Key Clubbers in your area (be sure to include food, teenagers love food)!
Builders Club What is Builders Club? There are over 1,500 unique Builders Clubs, 45,000 members in over 15 nations worldwide. Builders clubs are are student-led and the members work to improve their schools and their communities. Meetings and events are held weekly, just like most Kiwanis clubs. The club strives to encourage middle school students to make volunteering a habit and to help them grow into future leaders. Builders clubs host projects such as city clean-ups, volunteering in missions, serving at their school, etc.

NO club or member fees, sponsoring Kiwanis club pays the $180 renewal fee. Builders Club “I joined builder’s club when I was in sixth grade and have been a leader in the Kiwanis Family ever since. Our KIWIN’S Club was always very close with us, inviting our club to service events and socials. Invite local Builders Clubs to your events and socials so that they can become familiar with your club and join when they go to high school. Have the Builders Club board sit in on one of your club’s general/board meetings so that they can see what meetings should be run like. Have your club members go to their meetings as Keynote speakers. Middle school students really look up to high school students and will appreciate your attendance at their meeting
K-Kids What is K-Kids? K-Kids is a service club for students in elementary school. It's led by elementary students just like you and teaches the value of helping others by taking part in community service projects. In K-Kids clubs worldwide, more than 36,000 children are learning leadership through service. They're taking on the responsibility of running a K-Kids club as they plan and participate in community service projects. They serve their schools. Through participation in the research, planning and implementation of community service projects, K-Kids gain the 5 core skills of: Self-awareness Self management Social awareness Relationship skills Responsible decision-making

Joint Service Ideas Host a book drive together! Volunteer at a dog shelter Make get-well cards for patients at the local children’s hospital Have reading buddies with the K-Kids! During Christmas time, host a toy drive with Toys for Tots! You can even make it a competition to see which club collects the most toys. The ‘losing’ club buy pizza for the winners.
Aktion Club What is Aktion Club? Aktion Club, one of the most recent SLPs of the Kiwanis family, is the only service club for adults with disabilities. With more than 500 clubs and 12,000 members in seven nations worldwide adults living with disabilities are able to develop initiative and leadership skills through hands-on service. These adults return to the community the benefits, help, and caring they have received. Sponsored by local Kiwanis clubs, Aktion clubs can be established at churches, libraries, YMCAs, lodges or similar facilities.

Joint Service Ideas Lights! Camera! Aktion! hold a joint movie night with them include snacks, raffle, and games to keep everyone busy Visit a nursery home together Clean up your local park or beach Making tie-blankets to put in bed kits for SCAW. (SCAW, Sleeping Children Around the World, is Aktion club’s focus to provide bed kits for children in need throughout the world)
The Key Leader program strives to provide a weekend experiential leadership conference that will assist the youth ages 14 to 18. The weekend focuses on service leadership first, leadership through service. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership— it comes from helping others succeed. The weekend is fun filled with workshops, discussions, and team-building activities. Key leaders has been able to serve more than 26,000 students at 553 key leader camps in 40 American states , 7 Canadian provinces, Malaysia, Brazil, Cayman Islands, El Salvador, and Singapore. BRING UP GRADES Bring Up Grades, or BUG, is designed to recognize students who increase their grades and maintain/improve their grades. The rewards include parties and a presentation of certifications/buttons as well. They are also placed on their school’s Bring Up Grades honor roll. The program benefits the students directly by promoting education and participation of their own academic success which will attribute to building self-confidence, work ethics, among other characteristics
TERRIFIC Kids Terrific kids is a student-recognition program in which it promotes certain characteristics and personal ethics. Terrific is actually an acronym for T—Thoughtful E—Enthusiastic R—Respectful R—Responsible I—Inclusive F—Friendly I—Inquisitive C—Capable It aims to reward students who work with their teachers to establish goals exemplifying the TERRIFIC traits. The rewards include parties and presentations of certifications/buttons
