Aftermultipleexperimentsofsewing, weaving,anddyeing,Iultimatelydecidedto usesmockinggivenitscareandintricacy.It producesaneffectofincreasedvalueand care,drawingattentiontocommonplace ‘invisible’infrastructures.Interesting momentsofconcealingandrevealing insmockingplayswiththedimension offabric,whichIthinkrepresentsthe endlessnessandoverwhelmingrealityas RemKoolhaasdescribes.Italsocorrelates withSudo’sreferenceofthetextileas ‘activelivingthings’.
Withisolationandhuman inactivityduetoconstructionand demolishment,manyconditional, repetitive‘non-places’are producedinthecentral industrialarea(asrevealedin mydiagrams)As . opposedto thetypicalplanforamapto survey‘places’,mymapping processmaps‘non-places’.In conjunctionwithmythesis,the termsforcategorisationof“nonplaces”and“junk”,tome,talk aboutthemixedvalueofthese spaces.

Utilisingsystemsofthreadsand symbols,Ihaveidentifiednonplacesascarparks,disused factories,emptywarehouses, andvacantlotsmostlytowards theno-man’slandnearthe pointonrecycledportablemaps (handkerchiefs).Contrasting traditionalmethodological smocking,‘modernised’ techniquesofirregularsmocking onlightweightfabricadditively gathersthesemomentsof ‘placelessness’.Likenon-places, fabricsarelayered,combined withouthierarchy.

‘Non-places’ are the residue that remained when the tools of industry had moved on.

The phenomenon of ruined buildings and overgrown vacant lots start to spread, emptying half of the island. The actors of the island are isolated.
Actors started a network of upstart projects that recycled ‘non-places’ and filled ‘cultural voids’.
