You will learn about being a manager in Adventure Tourism, through completely authentic experiences, while working alongside leading industry professionals. It’s not like you are working at the leading edge of the industry; you ARE working at the leading edge of the industry! Ray O’Brien, Teacher, Diploma of Adventure Tourism Management

There are many things I enjoyed about QRC, one has to be the small group sizes, you really get to know one another and form great friendships for life and these are important in the industry. This also meant that one was not lost in the crowd of conventional lectures at normal universities. The staff behind the programme also contributed tremendously to the Adventure Tourism Management learning experience. I loved the outdoor excursions and the site visits. The internship was also a highlight for me in terms of seeing what I had learnt being applied to a real organisation. Graeme Sharp,

Student Council

Wine Club

Regular activities are organised for students by the Student Council. Each term the student body elects a new Council President, along with representatives from each Diploma programme. Activities are scheduled within your course and also for the College as a whole, so you can meet the diverse student population at the College. Our most popular activities include barbecues on the lakeside, sports competitions like tennis, soccer, cricket, quiz nights, kayaking, hiking and ten pin bowling.

Queenstown is home to many award winning wines and is rapidly gaining the reputation as one of the world’s top producers of Pinot Noir. Students who are interested in increasing their knowledge and appreciation outside normal classes are invited to join QRC’s resident sommelier in regular wine tasting sessions.

“I am currently living in Aoraki/Mount Cook Village and working for Glacier Explorers as a Glacier Guide/Skipper based at the bottom of the Tasman Glacier, the biggest Glacier in New Zealand. During my studies at QRC and during my internship I made many contacts with employers and professionals within the Adventure Tourism industry. These contacts have been invaluable and have helped me get to where I am today through professional networking. Papers like Risk Management, Operations Management and Service Quality Management gave me a strong insight into managing and running an Adventure Tourism business. In fact I still use some aspects of each of these areas on a daily basis. They will provide solid base on which to further develop my career in the Adventure Tourism Industry.” Linus Eriksson (Sweden) Adventure Tourism Management graduate Glacier Guide/ Skipper, Glacier Explorers, Aoraki Mt Cook National Park
