Degrees Diplomas Certificates Foundation Programmes Entry-level or pre-employment programmes for people returning to study or needing introductory study for their chosen field.

Certificates are available in a variety of subjects from levels 1 to 7 and range in length from 1 week to a year.

Also referred to as undergraduate degrees. These are at level 7 and usually take 3 years to complete.

Higher-level qualifications that are usually take 1 – 2 years to complete.

Graduate Certificates and Diplomas Specialised programmes at level 7 for people who already have degrees or substantial work experience in their field.

These 2-hour refresher classes assist gasfitters to acquire the credits needed to renew their practising licences. Classes will only be run to satisfy demand, and topics may include pre-installation compliance checks, pipe sizing, testing and purging, commissioning appliances, flues and ventilation and basic fault-finding.

Develop the knowledge and skills you need to identify, prepare and hang specialised and vinyl wall coverings in this stand-alone short course. You’ll learn describe wall covering types and characteristics, prepare surfaces, apply adhesives, hang coverings and remedy faults.

Our Wallpaper and Friezes course is a stand-alone programme, designed for people wishing to gain certification in this component of decorating. You’ll develop knowledge and skills in the preparation of interior surfaces, hanging of plain, patterned and textured coverings and safe working practices.

WHAT IF I DON’T MEET THE ENTRY CRITERIA? Most of our programmes have special admission options. This means if you are over 20 years old and a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident (and do not meet the academic entry requirements) you may apply to WelTec for entry into a programme.

It is our aim to get you where you want to be. We can discuss your needs with you and help you develop a personal education plan (PEP) to get you there. Many of our programmes are designed to allow ‘staircasing’ into higher-level programmes. This means that you can start with a certificate or diploma level programme and move into a diploma or degree.
