AROUND SKAGERRAK S/Y FATUHIVA JUNE AND JULY 2019
Welcome to sailing trips on s/y Fatuhiva. We are planning to sail around Skagerrak and visit Norway, Denmark and Sweden. Participation does not require any previous sailing experience, but you will be expected to take part in manoeuvres, steering as well as cooking. On average we’ll sail for 4-5 hours a day and the rest of the time we’ll spend hiking in the nature, visiting coastal towns, maybe swimming and just chilling out. On the trips 2, 3 and 4 there will be two kids – two year old boy and a half year old girl. The pace of the trip may be somewhat influenced by the kids.
SCHEDULE
Trip 1. 22-29.06, Kristiansand - Gรถteborg 120 miles on the open sea, probably down wind. We will stop in Skagen, Denmark and probably spend 1-2 days in the skerries of Norway and Sweden. We will have at least one overnight >24h sail, between Kristiansand and Skagen. Cruise without kids.
Trip 2. 29.06-06.07, Gรถteborg - Strรถmstad Swedish skerries, pleasant sailing on beam reach.
Trip 3. 06-13.07, Strรถmstad - Brevik Short distance, so it's easy to adjust the route to the conditions. A bit of Sweden, a bit of Norway, 40 miles on the open sea.
Trip 4. 13-20.07, Brevik - Kristiansand Norwegian riviera. Against the wind, partly in skerries, partly open. We sailed similar route last year and we liked a lot. We will visit picturesque towns and great anchorages.

YACHT We are going to sail on our sailing yacht Hero 114 called Fatuhiva. This is a 37 ft sloop built in Drøbak, Norway in 1985. It was designed as a perfect boat for long distance cruising. It isn’t new and fancy, but is definitely safe and comfortable at sea.
WHAT TO TAKE
Here is a list of a few things to take for the trip: - please pack your stuff in a soft, foldable bag which does not take much space on the boat, - sleeping bag, ideally 3 season one, not the thinnest summer version - waterproof jacket, pants and shoes - not necessarily proper sailing clothes, but at least something what you use for hiking in the mountains, - shoes on a flat sole to walk on the boat, - comfortable shoes for short hiking and sightseeing, - clothes - be prepared for temperatures between 30 and 10 degrees - warm sweater and beanie as well as shorts, - bathing suit, - towel, - sunglasses, sun screen, - I suggest to have some personal travel insurance just in case, - rest of stuff same as for any other trip.
