The Little Amy that Could
If
you are like me, the missing my bike itch is starting to take hold of you. There are just so many trips to the local bike shop you can do during the winter. One thing we bikers do to pass time, is to revisit the last riding season. One of my favorite day trips took me to Toulon, Illinois in search of Catalpa Grove Tavern a favorite stop for local bikers. Catalpa Grove Tavern is located on the edge of town between crops of corn, with a spacious beer garden. Tending the bar you will also find a young biker, named Amy Evanson. I met Amy one Saturday afternoon at Nee’s Harley Davidson in Galesburg as we shopped for the latest summer fashions. I have to admit I found her appearance fascinating and could not help but start a conversation with her. Although on the other hand, looking at the number of tattoos on her, I took a moment to think, maybe I didn’t want to approach her. But, to my surprise this tattooed biker chick with the friendly smile was not anything like I had imagined. From her first hello, she disarms you. I was then reminded that old saying, you cannot judge a book by its cover. Although much of Amy is covered by tattoos, she does it just because she likes them and there is no more to it than that.

As a “real biker” she works very hard to learn everything about motorcycles from A-Z, while at the same time gaining the respect of her peers. Luckily, when she purchased her bike the local shop provided Amy with free Riders Edge classes. The streets of Chicago also provided plenty of opportunity to improve her skills while living in that area... skills that were put to the test on one of her most memorable rides to Central Ohio. That particular ride in July of that year was a rainy muddy weekend. She dropped her fairly new bike into the mud causing her boyfriend to give out a serious laugh.
Well, my biker brothers and sisters, as I begin this article it is cold outside. Christmas and New Year’s are past, and I long to go riding. Yet, 20 ½ inches of snow in one day put a damper on that for me and Paradise. That was a week ago, now the salt trucks are basting the roads…. I did get my 2013 budget made and -still- never enough money. Yet, Lady G and I shall be going on as many bike trips as possible, so long as time allows and gas is in the tank. We are thinking of possibly doing the Ohio H.O.G. run this year, along with a trip or two to upper Michigan. Yes, there will be a few trips to the North woods of Wisconsin. We hope to get back over to the “Save the Tatas” poker run over in Avoca, as we had been there two years ago and it was a great event, great ride, and of course, great people. We may also do a ride or two with the Patriot Guard Riders in honor of those who serve and have served. Who knows, maybe we will get to Sturgis this year? The plans are on the board. Yet, as nice as most of those rides are for us, it is those rides in which we participate to help our fellow bikers that really bring us together. Because, one thing for sure is, if we are needed, we are there for each other. If one of us goes down, the rest of us will be there to help. Could be to mow their lawn, take their kids to school or to have a moneymaking event to help them with living and medical expenses.
Hanging out at the bar I had a chance to watch Amy serve up cold beer with her generous smile. The guys around the bar were definitely fans of Amy and it was easy to see why. Not only is she a fan with the guys parked out around the bar, but I also met several of the gals she takes rides with around the back roads of Henry County, Illinois. Her riding partner Lisa proudly informed me that she puts thousands of miles each year on her bike, not only riding with Amy, but hitting the long roads with her husband. When not riding with her friends, Amy spends a lot of time riding alone working on her riding skills. I first noticed Amy when she pulled into the parking lot at Nee’s on her 2007 Sportster. This petite rider with her tattoos looked every bit a biker chick. Only this biker takes the ride very seriously, wanting to always be considered a real biker.

or help in finding where our tent is located….again. At the drop of a: wet t-shirt, feather, drip of oil –whatever word you’d like to use…..we will be there to help when we can. Then, there are those times we hear of events in which we can’t do anything. Times in the not so long ago past: jets going into sky scrapers, bombs blowing up buildings, soldiers and civilians whom have lost their lives; our kids and teachers shot and killed. Just as we all bleed red, our hearts also break; biker “tough” or not. No doubt, it affects us all. Then, you know what happens? We pick ourselves up by the boot straps and ask, “What can we do to ease the pain and make things a wee bit better for those who need us?” We may not be able to reverse time, but we can at least make the hurt, hurt a little less. Be it for a cancer run or a memorial ride. Unless you are -or were- a member of the Armed Forces or of the police, fire and rescue departments, the last time many of us may have been part of such a group would have been high school. Years ago my neighbors would wonder if I was a “good neighbor”. “Look out for that man and his leather clad girlfriend”, they would say. “I don’t know about those two. Better lock your kids up and keep the dog in, they don’t look safe…” Now that they know me and Lady G, they have let the kids and dog back outside. We wear leathers, our hair may be long, and we have tattoos. We are a “Biker Community” and I am damn proud to be a member. Till next month my friends, stay warm, stay healthy….and stay safe!

January 12th marked the 5th anniversary of the Wicked Wheels Weekend put on by Black Magic Customs in Sandwich Illinois. The show was again in the Timber Creek Best Western and was sponsored by the great folks at Law Tigers. The first day of the show was great with outstanding weather for January. Because of the weather several of the show bikes were rode to the show to be put on display that day. Riding your bike to the show however turned to a bad idea with the ice storm the area got over the night. Many of these bikes were still ridden home on Sunday on that very cold day with all that salt and ice covering the local roads. Some riders just are not afraid of what nature has to throw at us. Vendors and ticket holders voted over the two days on several classes of motorcycle and the results of the voting may have surprised several in attendance. If not altered the headlight would point to the stars and not to the road ahead. Moving the assembly 2” forward provided the clearance needed for proper fitment and aiming of the beam. The saddle is from LePera and has been reupholstered in stingray and ostrich by Ed’s Auto Trim in Villa Park. Form and function in one great looking seat. When the painted parts returned to JLC the assembly could be completed. Joining the freshly finished bits were a set of floor boards from Chicago Bagger, foot controls by Battistini and a crash bar from Sinister Industries.

The names HarleyDavidson and Al Capone are fairly significant although there were no known ties between the two when Mr. Capone was making a name for himself in the ‘20s. He was actually born 4 years prior to HarleyDavidson started building motorcycles and to say the least they traveled in different circles. History shows us that one became a famous brand while the other is deeply rooted in infamy.
When Paulie Caparelli approached John Dodson at Johnny Legend Customs about building a new ride he went in with plans for an all-black ensemble. After discussions combining their creativity both agreed that some graphics would add some dash to the scheme. More exchanges of ideas were achieved before selecting the Al Capone theme for use. With the finish and graphics agreed to they set out to assemble the running gear and related hardware. Starting with a 2008 Street Glide the cycle was torn down and fresh parts were ordered to achieve a truly custom build. The sheet metal was sent to Psychotic Air in Batavia so Mark Daniels could work his magic given only the name Al Capone for inspiration. The rest was at his disposal. The resulting finish is high in detail and the Sherwin Williams gloss black paint gleams in its flawless execution. A portrait of Sr. Capone graces one side of the tank and additional

artwork in the same vein can be found all around the finished craft. While Psychotic Air was applying the paint the rest of the build moved ahead. The motor retained its factory 96” displacement but was given a host of upgrades to enhance performance. Taking oxygen into the fuel injection system is achieved via the Performance Machine air cleaner and spent fumes are carried by a Klock Werks Reverse Flow exhaust. The rotating machine gun exhaust tips are items found in the Tail Gunner product line and make an appropriate addition to the gangster theme. I suppose a Thompson submachinegun may have been more appropriate but wouldn’t rotate in time with the RPM of the motor. Today’s modern baggers typically roll on larger wheels and this build is no exception. A 23” hoop is teamed with an 18” at the rear and both hail from S.M.T. Plans to change the front wheel to a 26” unit
3 months were needed to create and finish this custom bagger but the owner is pleased with the results and I’m sure Al Capone would be as well. Probably not enough space to bootleg liquor but beyond that a terrific build from Johnny Legend Customs and Psychotic Air. www.trwinoil.com

degrees. The cool thing about a mag is the spark produced by it. A mags spark depends on the speed at which the mag is whipping around in its cage. The faster it spins the hotter the spark is.
Hello and welcome to cool school, or as we call it “welcome to my world”. My name is Phil Hoffman aka Hwyman or Panhead Freak. I’ve been into bikes since the mid 70’s when I was in the USMC graduating from MCRD in San Diego, CA. Before that I had friends with Harleys but nothing caught my eyes and heart like the Choppers that I saw in Southern California. Back then Choppers were the craze. They didn’t have parts vendors like Drag Specialties and Custom Chrome. Most of the parts were made by hand. Some worked and some did not. That’s where the term Motorcycles were Dangerous and Sex Was Safe originated. Boy have things changed, but one part that hasn’t and is still being used is a Magneto. Magnetos have been around for a long time in bikes, cars, tractors, airplanes & boats. In 1873 Siegfried Marcus of Mecklenburg Germany built a car called the Strassenwagen. It had _ horsepower at 500 rpm, wooden wheels and a magneto ignition. The car is in the Vienna Technical Museum and can still be driven under its own power. In 1884 Nicolas Otto invented the first low voltage magneto for a four stroke motorcycle. Quite a few years before the H.D. was around in 1906 all triumph motorcycles came standard with a Bosh Simms high tension magneto until 1954. In 1908 Thor Motorcycle Co. of Aurora, IL offered a choice of a battery or magneto. Harley soon followed in 1909 with 4 models, 2 with magnetos 5A and 5C. In 1919 Harley started using mags as standard ignitions on most models. In 1922 mags were on the W model until 1926. The race team used from the 30’s to the 60’s. Companies that have produced magnetos have been Fairbanks Morris, Joe Hunt, Bomar Magnetos and many more. The magneto is a self contained ignition system with its own coils, points and condenser. The mag turns at half the speed of the engine so one complete rotation of the mag is 720 degrees, not 360 www.trwinoil.com
Mags have been praised and they have been cursed at, but one that has been set up right is trouble free and fires on the first or second kick. Most of the problems with a mag stems from the point gapping. H.D. setting is .022 or .020, but we have found .018 or .019 works better. A .014 on the points and a .018 or .020 spark plug gap give you the hottest spark and works well trucking down the road. The other cool thing about a mag is you can smoke every wire on your bike and blow up your battery and the bike will keep on running. I built a bike and was putting on some break in miles on the motor. It was getting late and my dash cover loosened up on the bike causing the ignition switch and dash to short out, but the bike kept running and I got home, even though it was dark. After fixing my dash I saw how functional and cool a mag was. If that would have happened with a normal ignition I would have been broken down or burnt up the bike. The way to run a generator equipped knucklehead, panhead or shovelhead is to use a kick starter to turn over the motor, which rotates the mag causing it to spark. The bad thing is if you don’t have enough lead in your ass it may take awhile to get your motor running! I’m mostly talking about Harley Panheads, Shovelheads, Knuckleheads and Sportsters. I truly love the older bikes, Harleys, Indians, Crockers, Flying Merkels and Triumphs. Some really cool places to check out some old vintage iron is our shop, Black Magic Customs, Inc. in Sandwich, IL, and the Iron Horse Social Club in Savanna, IL. The Iron Horse Social Club has some old Indians, Harleys, Crockers and Merkels. You can see the old bikes with the mags on them. Jerry Gendreau has built an awesome collection with the older board track racers and hill climbers which is very impressive.
motors, new style shovels and Evos. Some even have a cool cone cover so you can run 2 mags on it – one per cylinder. Now THAT’S cool. I’m building a 52 Panhead using a 74 E Morris mag. It is an automatic advance but a manual retard so you move it clockwise to start and it moved forward to advance. I like them the best. A lot of people think mags are for older bikes but recently in Sturgis Michael Lichter had a display at the Journey Museum in Rapid City that contained bikes as new as 15 years old with mags in them. The Easyriders Streamliner went 322.150 mph breaking the speed record over 15 years ago and is still holding the top honors. They ran 2 motors and 2 magnetos. You can imagine the spark those magnetos were putting out, kind of like lightning bolts. Many people are getting back into using magnetos. For early January one would say it was a pretty nice day in the town of Beaver Dam Wisconsin on January 5th. However; for those that witnessed the first annual T.I.C.C Brain Freeze Ride participants riding their motorcycles down the snow covered streets I am sure they all thought they were nuts. More like Twisted! You see the crew of Twisted Iron Custom Cycles (T.I.C.C.) are hard core riders that decided to do this ride to raise money for the Wisconsin Chapter Burn Camp. The ride included stops at the following local business: Stooges sports bar/ Moonlight Bar/ Brewskies Bar/ The Boat House Bar/ Cocktails Bar and Grill. At Cocktails there was live music and raffles that raised funds for the camp. After a great success this year it is sure to be an annual event. Warrior Chopper Raffle Party
Roger Borror will tell you he’s had motorcycles in his blood since day one; add that to a deep passion to help those who have served in the military and you get one amazing custom built chopper. After having a vision in the back of his mind for many years, and trying to find a way to unite these two passions, Roger found the solution. What began as a fundraiser to benefit local military families, including his grandfather who served with the Navy in WWII, soon proved to symbolize so much more. A fundraising event was held in January 2008 that enabled Roger to start the ‘Wounded Warrior Chopper’ project. Thanks to that event he was able to purchase the frame & wheels and over the years more parts were purchased as funding came in. Unfortunately, the down-turn in the economy proved a harsh struggle for Roger’s desire to build this bike. And although the funding for the bike had screeched to a halt, the dream of giving back to the military never died. Fast forward to January 2011, with the economy looking up, donations started to roll in once more. Roger and the rest of the crew at Wapello County Customs (along with family and many good friends) worked, drove, lost sleep, sweated and bled in order to complete the bike in time for its official unveiling on Veteran’s Day, 11-11-11. After its introduction, Roger and the chopper traveled the country selling raffle tickets from Sturgis to the V-Twin Expo in Cincinnati and everywhere in between for over a year. Word of the outstanding customization job spread fast, the bike was featured in many national motorcycle publications and photographed with the likes of Jesse James, Charlie Hunnam “Jax” from SOA, and many more that are well known in the motorcycle world. On 12-12-12 with 100’s of people in attendance, a stage rocking courtesy of 3 different bands, and Tommy Flanagan “Chibs” from Sons of Anarchy signing autographs, Roger’s dream was realized. Ottumwa Mayor Frank Flanders took a moment as the event began

to proclaim December 12th, 2012 “Wounded Warrior Day”. The winner of the raffle was announced and since he wasn’t in attendance, Tommy (with his thick Scottish accent) gave him a courtesy call that went something like this “Joey, this is Tommy Flanagan, Chibs from Sons of Anarchy…. and I’m calling you to tell you that YOU just won an AMAZING motorcycle. You should probably call this number back to claim your prize”. IMAGINE checking your voicemail and hearing THAT message. Joey Smith (seriously, that IS his name) from Bunker Hill, IL bought one, singular raffle ticket simply because the proceeds were going to the Wounded Warrior Project, a great cause worthy of the donation. And the man behind this entire vision couldn’t agree more saying, “It’s not about the motorcycle we’re giving away, the bands or the celebrity actor; it’s about honoring the men & women serving our country for the freedoms we have today”. Well said Roger, I couldn’t have said it any better myself!! Thanks to all who donated money, time and all of the other important things we don’t ever seem to have enough of, your kindness is much appreciated! CONGRESS GIVES TAX BREAK TO ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE BUYERS Tax hikes and spending cuts dominated holiday headlines as the federal government teetered on the edge of the Fiscal Cliff, but the legislative package passed on New Year’s Day to resolve the issue, dubbed the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, included several tax credit extensions that didn’t generate as much media interest – including one for electric motorcycles. Oregon Senator Ron Wyden (D) sponsored the amendment extending the EV tax credit, which covers 10% of the cost of a qualified electric vehicle, up to $2,500. Vehicles must be a two- or three-wheeled plug-in electric designed “primarily for use on public streets, roads, and highways” and “capable of achieving a speed of 45 miles per hour or greater.” Electric-powered two wheelers have been without a federal purchase incentive since the end of 2011, when the original tax break expired that was part of the $800 billion stimulus package passed in 2009. A coalition of EV motorcycle companies, through Plug-In America, lobbied Congress to extend the tax credits, which are also retroactive and apply for electric motorcycles or EV chargers purchased in 2012 as well. Wyden argues that extending the tax credit will help generate jobs in the growing electric motorcycle industry. “The electric motorcycle industry is poised to create tens of thousands of U.S. jobs over the next five years, led by companies like Oregon’s Brammo,” said Wyden. “This amendment helps promote the development of a promising U.S. industry and support the transition to a lowcarbon American economy.”
E-CYCLES PROJECTED TO OUTSELL PLUG-IN CARS
According to two new Pike Research reports, electric scooters and motorcycle sales are going to eclipse that of plug-in vehicles by the end of this decade. In one report from Pike Research which looks at electric motorcycles and scooters, the study predicts that “annual sales of e-motorcycles and e-scooters will reach 18.6 million by 2018.” Pike Research points primarily to industries such as delivery companies, police and security forces, and even taxi services in some locations as the prime mover for the increase in sales of electric motorcycles and scooters. Another recently released Pike Research report predicted that annual worldwide sales of electric vehicles will reach 3.8 million by 2020. This includes plugin electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles selling in the Asia Pacific, North America, and Western Europe. “Sales of EVs have not lived up to automakers’ expectations and politicians’ proclamations, but the market is expanding steadily as fuel prices remain high and consumers increasingly seek alternatives to internal combustion engines,” says senior research analyst Dave Hurst. “Indeed, sales of plug-in EVs will grow at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 40% over the remainder of the decade, while the overall auto market will expand by only two percent a year.” Taken together, the two Pike Research reports indicate that two-wheel EV sales will outperform electric four-wheelers by a margin of 5-1 by the end of the decade. Currently, China is the biggest market for the sale of these electric vehicles, accounting for 81% of the global electric motorcycle and scooter market.
EPA TO DROP FOUR GALLON MINIMUM GAS PURCHASES

turers warn that using the product will invalidate warranties, so when the EPA approved E15 (fuel blend containing 15% ethanol) it raised concerns amongst motorcyclists, off-roaders, snowmobilers, boaters and others who use vehicles and equipment driven by small gas-powered motors…none of which are approved for its use. The EPA’s response was to require a minimum four gallon purchase, the misguided rationale being that it would dilute any residual E15 remaining in a gas pump’s lines. Again, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency came under fire, with powersports and automotive groups pushing back against the federal agency’s push for the grain alcohol-blended biofuel. Apparently realizing that a viable solution to the problem needs to be conceived, the EPA is abandoning its four-gallon minimum on blender pumps that dispense both E10 and E15 from the same pump, and instead the government body says it will likely require gas stations to label shared pumps, as well as offer a dedicated E10 pump/hose for non-approved vehicles. In the meantime, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has denied a rehearing on the EPA decision to put E15 on the market. The federal appellate court decision is a setback for the oil-and-gas industry, which opposes the use of E15 and a federal biofuel blending mandate that requires refiners to blend 36 billion gallons of biofuels into traditional transportation fuels by 2022.
NEW YEAR, NEW LAWS
The new year puts new laws on the books across the country, with state and local governments ringing in 2013 with a mix of new laws ranging from the innovative to the odd; one in Kansas City says households can’t have more than four cats, while a town in Massachusetts is banning businesses from selling plastic bottles. In Florida, drivers can once again flash their headlights to warn others of upcoming speed traps, which was previously outlawed. Meanwhile, driverless cars in California got the green light to hit the public roads, but one of Illinois’ 150 new laws prohibits motorcycle riders from popping wheelies -Public Act 97-743 imposes a fine of $1,000 on anyone who pops a wheelie on a motorcycle while speeding.
WOMAN FIRED OVER HUSBAND BEING IN A MOTORCYCLE CLUB
Her husband’s membership in a motorcycle club has cost the job of a human resources technician with the city of Kingman in northwest Arizona, according to a Phoenix lawyer who is representing the woman in her bid for reinstatement. The city served 11-year employee Melissa Summerson a notice of intent the day after Christmas and terminated her employment Dec. 28, attorney David Kresin told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “She was terminated for the stated reason of her husband’s membership in a family motorcycle club - the Desert Roadriders,” he said, adding that the dismissal violates her constitutional right to freedom of association. “There’s no allegation that Ms. Summerson personally did anything wrong in her job or engaged in any conduct personally that violated any of the city’s rules, and we believe there’s no cause for termination as she’s been an outstanding employee with a great record for her entire employment.”
CRIMINALS MORE PRONE TO CRASH THEIR MOTORCYCLES
Motorcyclists who have criminal records are twice as likely to get into accidents on the road than their law-abiding peers, a new Swedish study has found. The findings come from an examination of more than 5,000 motorcycle accidents carried out by Karolinska Institute epidemiologist Michael Fored. He went through statistics and looked at motorcycle riders who have a license and then cross-referenced the names with the criminal register. “If you’ve been convicted of a crime before, we see at least double the risk that you’ll get into a serious accident,” Fored told the TT news agency. Among non-offenders, there are 4.1 accidents per 1,000 license-holders annually. However, that figure jumped up to 27.7 when looking at drivers who had at least two criminal convictions. Fored shared his findings at the Transportforum conference in Linköping, Swe-

EUROPE SET TO MANDATE ABS FOR MOTORCYCLES
A Europe-wide proposal to mandate anti-lock braking systems (ABS) for motorcycles bigger than 125cc manufactured from 2016 onwards was overwhelmingly approved by the European Parliament by a vote of 643-16. Although the measure is still working its way through the EU legislative process and must still be adopted by individual member nations of the European Union, it is expected to be adopted soon. A European Union Commission presented the ABS requirement for new framework regulation for motorcycles, and calculates that the proposal would reduce the number of fatal motorcycle accidents by more than 5,000 over a 10-year period. Although the first anti-lock braking system was installed on a motorcycle in 1988, only 16% of all newly manufactured motorcycles in Europe were equipped with ABS, and by comparison car manufacturers have made ABS standard equipment since 2004 which has contributed to an estimated 49% overall decline in fatal car accidents in the EU. Experts regard anti-lock braking as a huge boost to safety, pointing to a Swedish highway study that showed that 38% of all motorcycle accidents involve personal injury and 48% of all serious and fatal accidents could have been prevented with ABS. In the U.S., the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has considered requiring ABS on new motorcycles sold in America, and will likely take up the issue in the near future.
INDONESIAN WOMEN BANNED FROM STRADDLING MOTORCYCLES
In an effort to establish Sharia law, Indonesia’s northwestern province Aceh has enacted a controversial new law banning women from sitting on motorcycles with their legs apart. Aiming “to save people’s morals & behaviors,” under the new regulation “women are allowed to sit ‘side-saddle’ because passengers who sit side-saddle rarely fell off while when you see a woman straddle a motorcycle she looks like a man…” Despite opposition from human rights activists who are calling for a reversal of the Sharia-type law; “We’re going ahead with the ban. There’s no resistance here,” said Dasni Yuzar, secretary of the city administration. “The government is only preserving morals. Women must not straddle motorbikes because it provokes the male drivers,” declared Aceh Mayor Suaidi Yahya, who proposed the law. However, he also added that women were allowed to straddle motorbikes if they were driving, as long as they were dressed in a “Muslim way.” Al Yasa’ Abubakar, a professor at the State Islamic Institute Ar-Raniry in Banda Aceh, explained that no such prohibition exists in Islam. was “not explicitly” written in the Koran that women should not straddle bikes, he said “by sitting astride, women dishonor themselves. They show their body curves almost transparently. They’re riding with men who are not related by blood or marriage. Their front body part is in contact with the men’s back. This is forbidden in Islam.” According to Tunggal Prawestri, a women’s activist based in Jakarta, “Almost every bylaw that was based on Sharia law targets the female body as a political battle ground in Aceh. Women become the easiest target, because as soon as women rights activists protest we are deemed anti-Muslim or anti-Sharia.” Spread across a chain of thousands of islands between Asia and Australia, Indonesia has the world’s largest Muslim population and Southeast Asia’s biggest economy, a huge market that all motorcycle manufacturers, including HarleyDavidson, dream to dominate one day.
AUSTRALIAN TOP COP VOWS TO BAN BIKIES FROM PUBS
Declaring that outlaw bikies “…are not the type of people who should be running licensed premises,” Chief Commissioner Ken Lay has vowed to ban bikers from pubs and clubs across Victoria. “The legislation is designed to ensure that doesn’t occur,” he told the Herald Sun newspaper of his plan to move “bikies” out of venue ownership, operation and security. Earlier this year, police swooped on bikies in a series of raids and seized 120 guns after ruling them not fit people to have the weapons under the Firearms Act. Meanwhile, police are telling licensees not to allow patched-up bikies entry, so some Melbourne strip clubs, bars and nightclubs are refusing entry based on a “dress code standard,” and some have even banned motorcycles from parking outside. Inspector Paul Ross, of licensing enforcement, said police “advised” licensees “it’s probably better if they don’t allow outlaw motorcycle gang members inside ... wearing colors.” One operator, who is enforcing the ban, said police asked him and others to sign an agreement that the dress code standard relating to bikies was upheld.

Our Journey with CMA Our Journey with CMA has been such a blessing to us. My husband L.D. and I joined CMA in August of 2007. We were just going along in life, when all of a sudden it was almost like someone hit us with a 2 X 4!! Wow!! My husband’s brother committed suicide; we filed bankruptcy, and almost ended up divorced. We were looking for help from somewhere and couldn’t figure out where to find it. But our father in heaven knew what we needed…it was him!! We were saved on 3/11/1997 and found out about CMA “Christian Motorcyclists Association” from my cousin David & his wife Sherry from Alabama, this was awesome, we could ride motorcycles and tell people what Jesus has done for us, he picked us up, dusted us off and sent us out into the world to pray with other bikers and tell them of the love of our Lord and Savior. When we were at our lowest he was there for us, when no one else was. We joined Chariots for Christ in Aurora and we were with them for a little over 3 years until May of 2010, when God led us to start a chapter in Yorkville, IL. / Jesus Team Riders. We knew we had to be obedient!! God never lets us down. The chapter started with 4 people and grew
to around 38 people within the first year. I won’t say it was all easy, but when you listen to God, nothing is impossible. We still have approx. 21 people in the chapter and they love Jesus!! We want the world to know that there is a God who loves you so much, it doesn’t matter where you are, what you’re doing with your life, or how many times you’ve wondered where he was….because he is waiting with open arms to welcome you to his kingdom. God moved us to go to Texas during the winter months and he sent some great people to take over our positions with the chapter. Now we will be helping with the chapter he called us to start in Illinois (Jesus Team Riders) & another one in Texas and he made it possible for us to be able to do this. He has put so many people on bikes in our path in so many states and different places, we love to spend time talking to other bikers about where they’ve been and where they plan on going and how they can ask Jesus into their hearts and have him be their pilot as they travel the roads. 1/4 Cup Sifted Powdered Sugar 1 Tbl. Frangelico, or Other Hazelnut-Flavored Liqueur 1/2 to 1 tsp. Grated Lemon Rind
JUST FOR THE TWO OF YOU STOVETOP ROAST CHICKEN W/ HOT BUTTERED NOODLES
Beat whipping cream at medium speed with an electric mixer until foamy; gradually add powdered sugar; beating at high speed until soft peaksj form. Gently stir in liqueur and lemon rind. Serve with chilled, fresh strawberries and dip away.
1 Pound of Fresh Mushrooms 2 of Each Chicken Part; Breast, Thigh & Leg 2 Tbls. Cornstarch 1/4 Cup Water 1/4 Cup Olive Oil 3/4 Cup Rose’ Wine 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce 1 Clove Garlic, Pressed 1/4 tsp. Dried Oregano Cooked & Buttered Egg Noodles Covered & Set Aside Place sliced mushrooms in a 1/4 inch of olive oil for total browning over medium-low heat. Combine cornstarch and water in a small bowl, stirring until smooth. Add next 5 ingredients, pour over chicken. slow roast on top of stove for 1 hour or until chicken is done. Serve with buttered noodles. * My mom used to make this same recipe in a cast iron skillet, but she’d jazz it up by adding strips of green, red and yellow peppers and letting it all cook down on top of stove with a cover over 3/4 of the skillet to allow air to flow. Green chilies is a nice addition also. Any way you do it, this dish is fabulour and the key to it is slow and steady. Don’t rush the good stuff. FRUIT & KISSES RED SMOOTHIES 1 Carton (8 ozs.) Strawberry Yogurt 1/2 to 3/4 Cup Cranberry Juice 1-1./2 Cups Frozen Unsweetened Strawberries, 1/4 ed 1 Cup Frozen Unsweetened Raspberries 3 tsps. Sugar or Splenda In a blender or food processor, combine yogurt and cranberry jice. Add strawberries, raspberries and sugar; cover adn process until blended. Pour into chilled, fancy dessert glasses. Serve immediately. These are so rich, you can serve as dessert. DIPPED W/ LOVE STRAWBERRIES INTO HAZELNUT WHIPPED CREAM 1 Quart of Strawberries; pop the tops and rinse thuroughly 1 Cup of Whipping Cream
MY VALENTINE FOR LIFE, STRAWBERRY CUSTARD TORTE 1 Packaged Quality Yellow Cake Mix 1/3 Cup of Sugar or Baking Splenda 1 Tbl. Cornstarch 1/8 tsp. Salt 1 Cup Whole Milk 2 Egg Yolks, Lightly Beaten 1 Tbl. Butter or Margarine 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract 1 Carton (8 ozs.) of Frozen, Whipped Topping, Thawed 1 Pkg. (12 ozs.) Frozen Sweetened, Sliced Strawberies, Drained and Thawed Halved Strawberries and Mint Leaves for Top Garnish Prepare and bake cake according to package directions, using two greased and floured 9-inch round baking pans. Cool for 10 minutes, remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely. In a saucepan, combine the sugar, cornstarch and salt; gradually stir in milk until smooth. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir for 2 minutets or until thickened. Remove from the heat. Stir a small amount of hot filling into egg yolks; return all to pan, stirring constantly. Bring to a gentle boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover and refrigerate until chilled. Place half of the whipped topping in a bowl; add strawberries. Split each cake into two horizontal layers; plce one layer on a serving plate. Spread with half of the strawberry mixture. Top with a second cake layer; sperad with custard. Add third layer; sperad with remaining strawberry mixture. Top with remaining cake and whipped topping. Refrigerate overnight. Garnish and serve. POUR SOME ICE COLD ASTI SPUMANTE INTO CHAMPAGNE FLUTES, LIGHT A CANDLE AND SHARE A BIG SLICE OF THIS TORTE TOGETHER, IN BED, AND THIS RECIPE WILL HELP CREATE A MEMORY OF PASSION
